There are other things that the presently full of energy Sanjay is contemplating. Becoming the brand ambassador of ‘boxing’ ever since Virender Singh got home the medal from the Olympics is one! A wish that may just work out! And entering politics is also on his wish-list. but that when the work pressure is less! Directing a film is also there at the back of his mind. “I have not thought about it seriously as yet but I will definitely be taking it up in the near future,” he says.
Presently it is his role in Kidnap, the high action drama in which he plays a multi-millionaire whose daughter is kidnapped and held for ransom, that which is giving him a high. The role is special for Sanjay Dutt because it is for the first time that he is playing father to a teenage girl, close to his daughter’s age, one of the reasons he was considered for the role. Says Dutt, “Sanjay Gadhvi saw me interacting with my daughter, Trishala on a show and he said that he could think of no one but me to play the part.” And the actor does not deny that many a time during the shoot, crossed his mind, the thought “What if Trishala were to get kidnapped and was held for ransom?”
“When I thought of that I realised that there are times in a person’s life when all the money in the world can be of no use! Working for this high drama between father and daughter was a very emotional experience for me. I also enjoyed working with Imran who I found to be a very confident actor and a very grounded person, “ says Sanjay.
The actor hotly denies that relations between him and his daughter are strained because of his marriage to Manyata. “Trishala was with us in the Bahamas when I was shooting there for Blue, and even otherwise we are on the ‘Net every day! She also shares everything she does with me. She is studying forensic sciences and just the other day she called to say that there was a dead body with a bullet in its head lying in front of her! She appeared so cool about it, but it really blew my mind!” smiles the proud papa. As for any chances of her joining films Sanjay says that it would be ‘sad’ if she does, because she seems to be doing so well at her chosen profession!
