Meerabai on NDTV Imagine

NDTV Imagine will soon be launching a new historical show based on the life of Meerabai. Produced by the Sagars, Meera is the story of a young Rajput princess whose love and devotion to Lord Krishna made her give up everything and thus elevated her to the status of a saint. Legend has it that when young Meera was just four years old, she found herself to be deeply drawn towards Lord Krishna. As she grew older, her desire to be with her Lord grew more intense and she resolved to be committed to him forever. Despite being forced into marriage with another man (Prince Bhoj Raj), she defied the social norms and continued to worship Lord Krishna as her lover. She went on to compose many devotional songs in praise of Lord Krishna that are sung to this day with great reverence across the country. These bhajans have been regarded by scholars to be of very high literary value. The show will explore her life from her childhood days and the influences and events that led her to become Meerabai the jogan. Aashika Bhatia, all of nine years old, will be seen playing young Meera and the key characters of Veer Kunwari (Meera’s mother) and Ratan Singh (Meera’s dad) will be played by Gauri Harmit Kaur and Kunal Bakshi respectively.

Inspired role
Supriya Kumari, who made news sometime ago with Anil Kapoor Productions approaching her for a role, will soon return to Zee’s Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo, but not as the poor and friendly Shanichari. In this new storyline, Supriya will be seen in a completely new look, that of a prostitute. For her role, Supriya has closely studied Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s character and body language in the song Kajra re. Says Supriya,“I feel lucky to essay a role that our great actors have played so beautifully. These characters have given a boost to their careers. My character now is completely different from the one I played at the beginning of the show and I love the diversity.”

Finale for Sarkar Ki Duniya
After being left isolated on an island for close to four months, a lot of drama and struggle to survive, it’s the final showdown at Sarkaar Ki Duniya.With the exit of Mink, the only female contender who made it till here, the stage is set for the top four finalists, Ali, Puneesh, Rashid and Sanju. The finale will be aired on July 3 at 10 pm on Real TV.This time Sarkar will not intervene but an audience poll will decide the outcome. As Sarkar (Ashutosh Rana) says, “These contestants have performed really well consistently and they truly deserve to be the finalists. The show started with this motto of making this island hospitable and turning these contestants into strong people, who understand other human beings and believe in giving back to the society. May the best man win.”
