Max Payne
The fight for life

Director :John Moore

Producers: John Moore, Scott Faye and Julie Yorn

Genre: Action- thriller

Cast: Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis and Beau Bridges

Based on the top-selling, award-winning videogame, Max Payne is an undercover cop fighting for his justice while uncovering plot-twists and twisted thugs in the gritty bowels of New York. Rockstar Games' double-gunned action franchise comes to the big screen thanks to director John Moore (The Omen) and Mark Wahlberg, who embodies the title character of Max Payne, a widowed cop hell-bent on delivering justice no matter what the cost as he investigates a string of killings in his city. Mila Kunis and Chris O'Donnell head up the supporting cast, with Beau Thorne adapting the screenplay for the 20th Century Fox production. In New York City, detective Max Payne is working in the Cold Case unit after transferring there three years before. He is consumed with investigating and finding the murderer of his wife Michelle (Marianthi Evans) and his daughter. In his search, Max is getting information from his snitch, Trevor (Andrew Friedman), which leads him to Doug who is with two other drug addicts. He has to fight for his life in order to survive and emerge victorious.

Initially, I did feel the pressure because over 11 million copies of this game were sold worldwide and it's a very famous video game amongst video games. It was like adapting a book, although people are a little more snobbish when it comes to adapting books - they get a lot more leeway than you do if you try to adapt as a video game but of course there is pressure. I thought there was a good story within this game, which is unusual because games are like hookers, I mean you talk to them for five minutes and then you get on with the bang bang bang!! But this game has a genuine story. I think the people that created this game are film lovers, if you look at the game, it is very cinematic so it wasn't like it was a difficult birth– it was a very natural birth that the film came out of. There are a lot of fans and what I hoped to do and judging from some of the chat-rooms, people seem to enjoy the fact that it's the next chapter in Max Payne story rather than just the rehash of the game.
