Maniben has come to town

SAB TV has a new show to offer to its viewers this June, Maniben.com. Produced by Contiloe Films, Maniben.com is a comedy, which has Smriti Irani in the lead role as Maniben, a lower-middle class woman who becomes rich overnight and moves from Bhuleshwar to Peddar Road in Mumbai. Maniben.com has been adapted from a very successful Gujarati play of the same name where Smriti herself had played the title- role. For its television venture, the story will see a few modifications in terms of new characters being introduced into the storyline. The show will be aired from Monday-Thursday at 8 pm starting June 8. Smriti Irani, who is excited about her new comedy avatar on television, said, “I am extremely pleased to be working with the team at SAB TV and equally excited to be doing comedy, something which I did in the early days of my acting career.” Directed by Rajan Waghdhare, the show also stars Nitin Vakharia, Sharad Vyas, Sudha Shivpuri, Manini De and Dolly Bindra amongst others.

A friend in need is a friend indeed!
AnjoriE Alagh, who plays the lead role in Seeta Aur Geeta, was having a tough time on the sets when she had to shoot with a cow for a particular scene. She was apprehensive when the production team asked her to sit next to the cow. The shooting schedule went haywire when the cow refused to budge forward. Fed up of waiting for the cow to turn docile, the unit started searching for another one. After an extensive search when they did manage to get hold of a cow, but the owner put forth a condition that Anjorie would have to familiarise herself with the cow before she could start shooting. Without wasting any more time, Anjorie spent an entire day just getting to know the cow and its mannerisms. The shoot went off smoothly the next day and by the end of the day when Anjorie was getting ready to leave, she even started missing the cow.

L’il Champs set to rock the stage once again
Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs is back this year with a new season, mascots and format. Starting June 5, every Friday and Saturday at 9.30 pm, the little champions will be seen trying their luck on the show. The auditions, judged by singers Alka Yagnik and Abhijeet Bhattacharya, were conducted in nine cities across the country. The host of the show has not yet been finalised. The new season will have a new format of ‘Boys vs Girls’. “Our viewers will have a blast watching these kids trying to outwit each other”, says Nitin Vaidya, COO and business head, Zee TV. “The moment you say it’s boys against girls anywhere in the world, there is a different kind of excitement in the air. That’s the same kind of magic we are trying to create this season with this new kind of battle. As judges, however, we have no such discrimination. Every contestant will be judged according to their talent,” added Yagnik about the format of the show. There will be a total of 12 contestants this year and the shortlisted winners will head towards a series of grooming sessions and the final competition will be held in Mumbai.

Shrink on Rakhi Ka Swayamvar
Reality show, Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, is getting more and more exciting and Rakhi Sawant is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that she finds a perfect match. The recent addition to the show is Dr Trupti Jain, who is an expert clinical psychologist, will be there on the show to ensure that Rakhi takes the right decisions. Says Dr Jain, “Rakhi has to make her decision in a relatively short time. So I will help her get a better understanding of the prospective grooms on the show based on their response to various situations and tasks. Their reactions to different questions will give us an insight into their personality.” Various games will be conducted on the show to determine the contestant’s psychological profile. This is being done to make sure that the contestants are really serious and not just fooling around.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah on a city ride!
Producer Asit Kumarr Modi organised an interactive evening with the cast of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma at the amphitheatre at Bhavan’s College in Mumbai . As soon as the cast entered, the audience stood up and started cheering loudly. Each of the characters performed a little gag on the stage. Little children who were elated to see the kiddie gang on the show, especially Tapu, occupied the front row. Popat Lal, a new character who was introduced on that day, joined the Mehta family in the celebrations. Though the auditorium was packed to its capacity, people kept pouring in to catch a glimpse of the Mehta family. It was clearly a day out for the Gujarati community who kept making requests to the cast. The cast was more than happy to oblige their fans. Looks like the cast of Taarak Mehta... is surely enjoying the love and attention of its loyal viewers!
