Let LTTE be a non-violent organization by Rajendran T on 2009-05-26 06:19:47.59374+05:30 It is sad that a freedom movement has died down becuse of ruthless military forces of singalese govt. Now the task before LTTE is to convert the movement as a non-violent movement. Let LTTE reach its goal by non-violence, like Gandhiji won freedom for India.

A Hero by Kunga on 2009-05-25 15:09:02.773639+05:30 Prabhakaran lived and died for a cause. Sri Lanka should have a second thought in treating its Tamil citizens to avoid the birth of other Prabhakarans in future. The battle may be won but the war will not be over untill the aspirations of Sri Lankan Tamils are met. The methods adopted by him during his struggle may be extreme but the cause is just. After all, all is fair in love, war and 'politics'. He lived and died a HERO.

At Last death to the Coward who hide behind the innocent tamil civilians by Mohamed on 2009-05-25 14:19:39.745099+05:30 I think he deserve such a low caste death, as he gave cyanide capsules to innocent tamil civilians and he gave luxurious life to his children. Finally he died like a coward hiding in the no fire zone, instead of fighting like a brave tiger. Actually he was a cunning fox covered with tiger skin. That is the truth about the Prabaharan. We praise for our Brave President Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse for his brave decision to eliminate the LTTE.Patriot Sri Lankan Muslim

Foreign Policy by Vaid S C K on 2009-05-25 13:26:25.880387+05:30 While very few may feel sorrow on the death of VP, Government of India must take a lesson for its future foreign policy. Foreign countries, small or big do not consider indiana living abroad with much respect. Laws are not equal in application though they may be read same. The reason is that foreign countries believe that GOI is weak and shall not take any harsh action. Specially, our foreign policy must demonstrate that all indians living or travelling abroad should be treated with due respect. There is clear case of neglect that chief minister of state belonging to opposition party was denied visa by USA and GOI never made it issue or even lodged strong protest showing feeling of oneness. How an ordinary indian can feel secure or safe when he/she faces discrimination from others?

It is true now as it was when written by flakca on 2009-05-25 13:04:58.811638+05:30 It is true now as when it was first written "He that lives by the sword, dies by the sword". A sad day for those who followed him, and a happy day for those who suffered because of him. Let this violent death of a man, his family and his followers be a warning to us all and cause us to consider our ways and choose to walk the merciful path as envoys of peace. Reconciliation is the more noble path. Forgiveness must do its work. I pray for the people of this small island nation. That they may find the path to peace and mutual respect.

Hero or Demon by Prasad on 2009-05-25 11:00:49.423573+05:30 The man, however demented his ideals might be, died like a man. Certainly, a brave man I'd say.

Prabhakaran Dead by Venkat on 2009-05-25 10:23:19.371237+05:30 Being a Tamil, I am not a great fan of VP and had been waiting for the news of his death since the LTTE killed the first Indian soldier in the late 80's, I must admit that he stood, till the end, for his cause and met his end in the battlefield along with all his family members - a brave death worthy of his ideals (however demented they might be). Compare this with the way Saddam was caught by the US forces - like a rat hiding inside a hole. His death in the battlefield will not put an end to the militant aspirations amongst the Sri Lankan Tamils - something Mr. Rajapakshe has to remember while dealing with the minorities. Thank God, we live in India, where all people are equal in the eyes of the law and there is no officail discrimination..

End of Prabhakaran, the new beginning of Tamils - Rajapakse needs to act! by Shijith Nambiar on 2009-05-25 09:48:11.051839+05:30 Velupillai Prabhakaran is the best illustration of the phrase, "to be hoisted by one's own petard." Hope the Srilankan government creates a platform for the deserved representation of Tamils in the new set-up. Tamils need to be treated as equals. This is possible only by ensuring the representation of Tamils in the government by the means of free and fair elections. The president needs to live up to his words of creating a viable solution. The Srilankan government needs to rapidly implement the rehabiliation programmes. Also important is the need to create and implement a sustainable empowerment plan for the Tamils in Srilanka. Mr. Rajapakse needs to look at the life of the Tamils through the eyes of the disempowered Tamils to really understand what would make the Tamils empowered in Srilanka. If and only if he is able to do this, would Mr. Rajapakse be successful; else he would be one of the dismal failures on earth.

Rajapakshe - a war criminal by Sebastian on 2009-05-25 08:49:21.512144+05:30 The Sri Lankan President, Mihinda Rajapakshe, a Sinhala Chauvinist and a war criminal, who has committed the war crimes, Crimes Against Humanity, Forced Migration, Ethnic Cleansing, Human Rights Violations, Violating Press Rights, etc and he must be taken custody by International Force and produce in the International Court of Justice. He must be imprisoned for massacring innocent Tamils across Island Nation. In addition, the International Community and UN should come forward to liberate the Tamil Nation from Sri Lankan government and declare the Tamil Eelam as a separate Nation-State on the face of the planet earth.

Great warrior of our era! by Jai on 2009-05-25 02:10:36.214843+05:30 Warriors like him never die, he is an inspiration to man kind!! History will remember him for ever. In this modern world, truth never wins, there is no ethic and moral, truth is vanishing. Organisations like UN is wihtin the hands of rich countires, no one worried for lakhs of people who where killed and raped by SL army, I never beleived that this world is inhuman like this. Tamils are brave and intellignet people, they will raise from their ashes, I hope to see their victory in my life time. Long live Tamil and Tamils struggle.

Sri Lankan Tamils by Jafar Zaidi on 2009-05-25 01:46:24.598299+05:30 Whatever may be cause, choosing path of terrorism cannot be justified. Ashoka the Great and Gandhi showed the path of non-violence to the world. Sinhalis who mostly practice Budhism can well understand the problems of ethenic Tamils in Srilanka. After end of LTTE their problems and grievances should immediately be addressed to. Tamils should not be made to feel that they have been defeated in war and have lost their right to protest. Rather than West South Asean countries should come forward to convince Sri Lankan Govt. for peaceful settlement of the issue - only material aid to the effected people is not sufficiant.

Prabhakaran is dead, says LTTE by Laxminarayana Paladi on 2009-05-24 23:21:32.518865+05:30 Prabhakarn had worked for the death of few thousans of men, and upto 10 top leaders of their own country and that of other countries and and also detrimental to the progress of the country, over these 30 years. Al-qaeda is in the same route now in the world under the perverted able leadership of O'Bin Laden. Is it not the time to have world government after two world wars and a 3rd war of terrorism?
