Parag Dixit (Neil Nitin Mukesh) had everything that one would ever want in life. A good job, a palatial house and a beautiful girlfriend Maansi (Mugdha Godse). Everything is perfect for him until one incident changes his life forever. He is put behind bars for a crime he has not committed. When he is thrown into jail he is very disillusioned and clueless for the initial few days. Soon he gathers enough courage and finally comes to terms with the situation. Not a single person believes him except for the resident supervising convict, Nawaab who thinks he is innocent and someday he would be able to prove himself. The film depicts the pitiable condition and the horrible life of Indian jail inmates. Manoj Bajpai and Arya Babbar play jail inmates.

Jail is the quickest shoot ever. Never before have I aimed at completing a film so fast. It’s my fourth venture with Percept Picture Company. Jail is a hard hitting yet sensitive tale of an ordinary man, Parag Dixit, who finds himself inside the prison due to a series of unfortunate incidents around him and also about other jail inmates. We had designed a huge jail set at Karjat and believe me it looks so real that you won’t realise that it’s a set. The film is made to give a ringside view of what happens behind Indian jails. For a sensitive subject like this, there was a lot of emphasis on research and thattoo with the right stakeholders. Whether it is the locations or mannerisms of the jail inmates or the costumes, all has been worked upon with great precision to ensure that every frame boasts of precision. Jail is one film where I went through a range of emotions and I am confident that once the audience sees the film they will also go through the same. It is not just another Bollywood film; it deals with the truth behind the bars. The entire team be it Neil, Arya, Manoj or Mugdha, have done an exceptional job and I respect their hard work. We have high expectations from Jail.
THE BUZZ
Neil Nitin Mukesh's nude scene in the film created quite a few controversies. Neil had to strip on camera for the police interrogation scene.
