Ghost house
The four guys who endeared themselves to you with In Harihar Nagar in 1990 and returned 19 years later, with 2 Harihar Nagar to rock the theatres in 2009, are all set to hit back with yet another sequel, titled In Ghost House Inn
In Harihar Nagar was directed by the Siddique-Lal director duo, who had made their directorial debut in 1989 with Ramoji Rao Speaking, a film that had a low-profile opening and then went on to become a surprise major hit. Ramoji Rao Speaking was not a mere blockbuster; it proved to be one of the biggest trendsetters in Malayalam cinema and Siddique and Lal went on directing one blockbuster after another- In Harihar Nagar, Godfather, Vietnam Colony and Kabooliwala, all of them entertainers that catered to the young and the old alike. It was then that Siddique and Lal parted ways on the professional front and Siddique stuck on to direction, delivering hits like Friends, Hitler, Chronic Bachelor etc, while Lal took to production and distribution and also turned a busy actor, making his acting debut with Kaliyattom, the Jayaraj-directed film which was an adaptation of Othello and in which he played Iago’s part. (Lal even won the State Award for the Best Actor for his performance in Thalappavu). Lal decided to come back to direction by making a sequel to In Harihar Nagar, his first solo venture. The sequel, 2 Harihar Nagar, released in April this year, was a big hit.

In Harihar Nagar told the story of Mahadevan, Appukuttan, Govindankutty and Thomaskutty, four unemployed young guys, who run into all kinds of hilarious situations and finally end up being caught in a big crime drama. The story of these four friends was presented in an interesting manner, with humour dominating the proceedings. And when, 19 years later, 2 Harihar Nagar sought to tell the story of these four guys once again, film buffs who still cherished In Harihar Nagar accorded a warm welcome to Mahadevan, Appukuttan, Govindankutty and Thomaskutty. The four friends, though no longer that young, happened to be youngish at heart and also in their ways and were once again caught in all kinds of funny situations. The actors who played the roles, namely Mukesh, Jagadeesh, Siddique and Ashokan, did their parts in their respective styles and won thunderous applause all over Kerala.

Now, Lal is getting ready with yet another sequel titled In Ghost House Inn. Produced by Lal and P.N.Venugopal jointly under the banner of Lal Creations and PNV Associates, In Ghost House Inn, based on script by Lal himself, tells the story Thomaskutty (Ashokan) buying a bungalow and the other three, Mahadevan, Appukuttan and Govindankutty (played by Mukesh, Jagadeesh and Siddique respectively) coming to stay there with their families. It’s then that they come to realise that it’s a haunted bungalow. Things take a hilarious turn from here and the plot develops. The cast for In Ghost House Inn includes Rohini, Lena , Reena Basheer, Rakhi, Radhika, Nedumudi Venu, Harisri Ashokan and Kochupreman. Bichu Thirumala is in charge of the lyrics while Alex Paul scores the music. Venu is the cinematographer, V.Sajan editor and Prashanth Madhav the art director.
The pooja ceremony for In Ghost House Inn was held in the Sarovaram Auditorium in Kochi on October 27 and the film has been launched. It will be shot shot mainly in Ooty and will hit the theatres marketed by Lal Release.
