Jacqueline in a short talk with IndianExpress.com spills her beans on Big B, Bollywood and much more.
How was it for you working with Big B in your first ever film?
I was very scared and a little bit hesitant about working with Big B. But, these were the initial feelings. After that, it all turned into a lot of excitement.
I became nervous and was mugging my lines, on the night before the shoot with Amitabh Bachhan.
Though it is too early to ask, but how far has been your experience with Bollywood so far?
Gosh! You know, to be very honest, my experience, so far about has been poor. People were skeptical about me (prospects). I was given a feeling that the industry is corrupt.
I have been in Bombay since two years and am learned the nuances of Bollywood with Aladdin.
But, it really helps if you have good people around. Personally, I should say, I have had no bad experiences in Bollywood so far.
Aladdin being your first movie, how easy or tough it has been for you to perform your role?
We had lots of preparations, so it has not been much tough. I have taken lots of dance classes before making myself ready for the movie, to ensure the smooth sailing (smiles).
Tell us about the character you have played in Aladdin?
The character I am playing is a very cool role called Jasmine and it becomes all the livelier with the fairy tale aspect of the movie.
Has this movie Aladdin or the character you play are in anyway associated with anyone of your childhood dreams?
Except playing Jasmine! (Smiles)…I have always admired characters like Jasmine and Cindrella, but frankly speaking I have never ever thought in my entire life, that I would be playing (someday) Jasmine.
How comfortable are you with Hindi (language)?
Hindi (language) is new to me, which is why dubbing took a little bit more time than it should have.
