Launch Vehicle
I play a spoilt, rich, bratty kid in the film. Meesha, my character is rude and demeaning to people but she also has a simple side to her. As the film progresses, you see the gentler side. The transition that Meesha’s character goes through is portrayed beautifully in the film. Vashu uncle, who is the producer of the film, is more like family to me. Even Vivek-sir, who is the director, has done a fabulous job.
Casting Coup
I met Vivek-sir about three years back when I came to Mumbai after winning the Miss International title. At that time, he promised that he would launch me in one of his films. I never thought that he would give me my first film, but when I met him with my mother last year, he asked me to audition for Meesha’s character. Before I knew it, I was selected.
Stepping-stone
I have undergone a summer acting course at Anupam Kher’s acting academy for a month. Besides that, the only thing I am professionally trained in is dance. I am trained in Bharatanatyam, Jive, Jazz, Kathak and Hip-Hop dance forms. In college, I did a little bit of theatre and then ramp modelling happened. After that I went on to win the Miss International title in 2005, and after that I did a lot of commercials.
First Shot
I was really scared and did not know what to do in the first shot. I went completely blank but once the camera started rolling, my nervousness vanished. Vivek-sir told me that I was a completely different person in front of the camera. I think the nervousness was more because I was really excited.
Stumbling Block
Every individual goes through his or her share of struggle to enter Bollywood. Some get it easy but not everyone is lucky. My family was always there to support me. I have never faced any unpleasant experiences but I had to put in a lot of hard work to reach where I am today. I went through a really difficult phase in between when I was getting a lot of offers but nothing materialised. The progression from modelling to films was also very gradual.
Lessons Learnt
It is very important to work with the right kind of people. Very rarely do you find that happening, but I was lucky to work with Jackky in my very first film. Jackky is really hardworking and sincere. Bollywood has been good to me and all the feedbacks that I have received have been positive. I am just hoping that my film does well.
Matinee Idol
I look up to my late grand-uncle Manmohan Desai. I would have loved to work with him in one of his films. Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit and Rekha have been my favourites. I have grown up watching their films. I also want to work in a period film like Jodhaa Akbar.
Future Projects
As of now, it is just Kal Kissne Dekha.I am waiting for it to release and only then will I sign anything new.. I will keep everyone posted about my future projects.
