What is Jashnn all about?
Jashnn is about the dreams and aspirations of people, especially from small towns and how reality shows on television help them realise their dreams.

What is your role in the film?
I play a small-town boy, Akash Varma, who dreams of becoming a rock-star. He wins a reality show and celebrates his success. It’s the emotional journey of a non- entity who wants to be a celebrity.

Is it true that Mahesh Bhatt ghost-directed Jashnn?
From start to finish Jashnn has the stamp of a Mahesh Bhatt film showcasing the emotional nuances and realism that only a Mahesh Bhatt can depict.

Then what about directors Hasnain Hyderabadwala and Raksha Mistry?
There are several aspects to direction, like deciding the locations, the cast, costumes etc. And Jashnn is a team effort with Mahesh Bhatt’s creative genius.

What is your co-star Anjana Sukhani like?
She’s an amazing actress. When she came on board we were a bit sckeptical how she would tackle her role. But watch out, she is the surprise packet of the film.

Do you have a contract with the Bhatts?
Yes, I have a three-film contract. I love working with them.

What about that one tip that helped you to lose an astonishing 40kilos?
That however much you exercise, it’s only your diet, or what you put into your mouth, that decides the extent of the weight loss.

What are you working on next?
Anand Mahendroo’s film Dekh Bhai Dhekh based on his television serial. I play my dad, Shekhar Suman’s son who is now grown up and an army officer. We start shooting next month.

Since you have done a course in direction, tell us one film you would have liked to direct?
Lagaan without fail! I think Ashutosh Gowariker made the most beautiful film.
