How much truth is there in writer Sajid Warrier’s allegation that Agyaat is his story?
I have no idea. I think claims from writers that a film is based on their story idea is becoming a fashion, especially at the time of a film’s release. I have four people claiming that Agyaat is their story, while five people claimed that Sarkar Raj was their script.

But did you go through his script as claimed by him?
In the last 20 years, I have been meeting at least five people every day. How can I remember every person? And why would I take away the credit from a writer and give it to someone else?. I am not a person to shy away from giving people their due.

Is the film based on The Blair Witch Project?
The amount of software available today is tremendous. You can work on so many story ideas on the basic plotline of a horror story in a jungle. I can give you ten different concepts each with different characters and situations. For me, the idea to base a horror film in a jungle germinated when I was shooting for Jungle.

Have you resolved all the differences with Priyanka Kothari and you?
I have never had a fight with anyone! I am too busy making films. People ask me how I am working with Vivek Oberoi again and now Priyanka. I cast an actor in my films when he or she suits the role.

Do controversies and Ram Gopal Varma go hand-in-hand?
The basic thing is that I am a very unconventional filmmaker and anything or anybody unconventional gives rise to controversies.

What attracted you to act in Adeep Singh’s Mujhe Ramuji Se Milna Hai?
It’s not true that I have acted in the film. The director has just taken a footage from a TV interview. I cannot even pose in front of a still camera.

Is Rann an idealistic film that shows how you would like the media to operate, and is the national anthem issue cleared?
Rann is all about the politics inside the media and how the powerful use it for their benefit. Also, how by the virtue of its positioning it has no choice but to be corrupt. The final verdict from the authorities on the song has still to come.

After horror films, movies on the underworld and a soft romantic story like Mast, when will you make a comedy?
I am thinking along those lines. Maybe after I complete Rakht Charitra, I will make a comedy. And no, there are no plans to make a sequel to Bhoot or Sarkar Raj as reported.

Do you have any actor on your wish-list?
I always wanted to work with Amitabh Bachchan and that dream has been fulfilled. It is amazing that after so many years in the industry, he still has the same enthusiasm and passion towards his work. It’s very infectious for a filmmaker.
