Tara Sharma an alumnus of the prestigious London School of Economics is a daughter of well-known author and actor Partap Sharma. Instead of settling in a plum job based on her degree Tara chose the rather difficult path of acting and today feels satisfied by her decision.

In a one to one talk with Ashok Kumar of Expressindia.com Tara gets candid on her career and life after marriage.

How do you see your debut in Om Jai Jagdish? Did you feel overshadowed by the other stars?

I feel grateful that I had a big banner to start my career in films. I don’t have any regrets of being part of that film. I am enjoying my journey in the films. I am not a competitive person by nature.

Do you still like to play characters of a girlfriend or a wife?

Absolutely. I have a mix of films like ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’ where I have done such roles. I like to make people laugh and look forward to play such characters. I don’t have any preferences (for particular roles) as such.

In Page 3, which was a big success, focus was on Konkona Sen. Did you feel sidelined in that film?

Not at all, I feel grateful to work in Page 3.

Who is the best director among so far you have worked with?

I have enjoyed working with all the directors. All of them including Anupam Kher, Dibakar Banerjee, Mudassar Aziz have been wonderful to work with.

You have earlier refused kissing scenes for films Khosla Ka Ghosla and Amavas. In future are you open to locking lips if the movie demands?

I am not comfortable with lip locking. I won’t go for it unless the script demands it earnestly. If the script is extremely amazing may be I’ll consider.

Are you happy with your film career?

I am happy. Everyone’s definition of success is different. I like the mix of films I have done. I have grown as an actor. For me success is to live a good life. I have a great husband and a wonderful family.

After graduating from London School of Economics you could have settled for any lucrative job. Why did you decide to enter films?

I worked for Accenture (then called Andersen Consulting) in London. But I realised that I love acting. I started it (acting) as a hobby and always wanted to give it a try. God forbid if it does not work (career in films), I will have no regrets.

How has your life changed after marriage?

Life after marriage is really fun, too enjoyable

Tell us something about your role in the forthcoming Mumbai Cutting?

I am playing the character of an innocent young girl.

Tell us about your favourite Bollywood actor?

Lots of actors are my favourites.

Have you ever felt exploited in your professional career?

I am a strong person. I will not take any exploitation. If someone exploits me I will kick that person.
