Anushka Sharma underwent a complete transformation for her role as Bulbul in Parmeet Sethi’s Badmaash Company. Here she talks about doing badmaashi and much more

What kind of response have you received after the movie’s release?
The response has been great and we have had a good opening. Social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter are a good barometer for gauging what people really think, and so far people seem to be full of compliments.

Which was the best compliment you received?
A lot of people have appreciated my role as Bulbul and I have heard a lot of positive comments on the young, new look I have. I am very thankful for this feedback.

You sport a completely different look in the film from the simple salwar- kameez clad girl in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Was the transition easy?
The transition to Taani in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was actually tough for me. Being a model, I had to completely get absorbed in Taani's world and mindset in order to do justice to the character and the earlier film. Playing Bulbul was like going back to the time when I started out as a model.

How did you get into shape to fit into a bikini?
I'm blessed with a good metabolism and during the making of Rab Ne... I could easily get away without working out. But to play Bulbul, I had to go back to the gym and lift weights again. It helps that I have an innate aversion to greasy food and don't have a sweet tooth either.

Tell us one badmaash thing about you that no one knows.
I would do just about anything to skip my classes in school.

Your pairing with Shahid Kapoor is being much talked -about. Is your off-screen chemistry as good as it is on screen?
Shahid is a thorough professional. I'm glad that people seem to be liking our chemistry in the film. And off-screen all of u had a ball of a time being badmaash while promoting the movie!

What about Meiyang Chang and Vir Das? We heard you were an awesome foursome on the sets?
That's true; the four of us did hang out a lot. We shot the film in the United States and in Thailand, so we would go shopping, grab dinner and even go clubbing sometimes. We had a great time and so we bonded well on-screen as well.

You were the only girl on the sets. Did the guys pull any pranks on you?
I think I've hung out with them so much that very often they would consider me one of the boys as well! They did pull my leg a lot. But all of us would play pranks on each other.

Will you only work in films under the Yash Raj banner or you are open to other production houses as well?
I'm about to leave for London for Nikhil Advani's Patiala House, which isn't a YRF film. As an actor, I'm on the look out for good scripts and am keen to do challenging roles. While the production house is important, it certainly is not the sole deciding factor. YRF and Adi (Aditya Chopra) are my mentors and have never interfered in my decisions.

First Shah Rukh Khan and then Shahid Kapoor, which actor is next on your wish-list?
I have a secret wish-list of directors, which I will never reveal! Apart from that I don't have a wish-list of actors at all. I'm happy to be doing my next films with Akshay Kumar and newcomer Ranveer Singh.
