So what is the numerological significance of this date? According to writer and astro-numerologist, Anupam V Kapil, "The number 8 has two circles. One of the circles is about materialistic possessions and the second one is spirituality. Every number has its own significance and considering the fact that there are three eights in the date, this date is very important both astrologically as well as numerologically."

The important aspect about number eight is that it is ruled by Saturn, says Kapil. “And as far as this date is concerned, the date comes between lunar and solar eclipse. In fact it is also occurring during the same period as that of the conjunction between Mars and Saturn and thus, the overall impact of this is going to be experienced on the date as well," adds the numerologist who was amongst the early ones to talk about the significance of numbers 4 and 8 he says.

Numerologically the number is believed to be fatalistic and people who have their birth dates as 8, 17 or 26, that is are number eight people, are supposed to attain the desired status only after considerable struggle and delay in their lives. According to Swetta Jumaani, numerologist, "Saturn is usually a planet which take trials and tribulations, and after which, eventually rewards the person amply. Usually the first half of a number 8 is associated with struggle. The second half however compensates for the first. Sometimes it is vice versa. With the struggle, Saturn also gifts with will power and determination."

Jumaani further adds, "It is a common observation that unless born in a wealthy family, number 8 persons usually have to work a little harder than usual to get what they deserve. Number 8 people ruled by Saturn, are often misunderstood and accused for things they never committed. The best of lawyers and doctors do not understand them. Today, they must therefore avoid partnerships and litigation, as they would find others at variance with their nature.”

Considering the fact that today, the Beijing Olympics are scheduled to be kicked off; will the date have any impact on the Olympics? Jumaani explains, "In China, 8 is considered to be a lucky number. No wonder the Olympics are slated for 08/08/2008. The word for eight in Chinese is - Pinyin: bâ and sounds similar to the word which means prosper or wealth. There is also a resemblance between two digits, 88 and the shuang xi, meaning double joy." She further adds, "However even in China there have been many earthquakes on dates adding to eight. In fact on September 9, 2005, we had predicted that on November 26, 2005, there was a possibility of such a disaster. Very unfortunately, there was a huge quake in China on that very date. Actually, that date was triply ruled by Saturn, as it was firstly on a Shaniwar (Saturday) and to top it, the date was 26 (26=8) and 26+11+2005=8 too!"

According to Kapil, "I might sound bold in saying this but I have already predicted that some mishap might just occur during the Olympics. Beijing sums up to 18 which has the number eight in it thus making the Olympics a target for an untoward event."

The experts might be busy calculating the pros and cons of this historical day, but the ones who actually belong to number 8 seem to be happy with their number ready to face the day with ease and enthusiasm. Anjali Laxmeshwar, entrepreneur says, "I do not understand why people call 8 an unlucky number. With me it has been the other way round. I take most of my decisions on eighth and things seem to accelerate post the decisions. My daughter just got married and she will be coming home today after a long gap which means that the day has begun on a positive note."

Suhaschandra Kulkarni, musician and his wife both belong to number eight. According to Kulkarni, "I am born on July 26 and my wife on January 26. Though we both are number 8, we are poles apart! I am a sensitive person whereas my wife is practical. I am impatient and she is extremely patient. We are married for the past 40 years and it has been a smooth relationship. I am a believer of numerology and I feel that subconsciously, it is the common number eight that has helped us. I am sure today as well will have something positive for us."

Saif Ali Khan- Kareena Kapoor

Saif Ali Khan's rashi is Makar. Kareena Kapoor with a destiny number three also belongs to Makar rashi. Considering the fact that number eight affects Makar rashi directly, Saif and Kareena are about to face major misunderstanding in their relationship today or in the days to come after this day.
