In a classic, comedy of errors, Golmaal Returns traces the misadventures of Gopal (Ajay Devgan) and his wife Ekta (Kareena Kapoor). The couple lives with Gopal's sister Esha (Amrita Arora) and Ekta's mute brother Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor).
One night Gopal saves a young woman named Meera (Celina Jaitley) from a few thugs and as things develop they are forced to wait the night out in a yacht. When Gopal does not show up for the entire night, Ekta, who is obsessed with Ekta Kapoor’s TV soaps, suspects Gopal of spending the night with a girl.
To avert his wife's suspicions, Gopal cooks up a story about spending the night with Anthony Gonsalves and convinces one of his colleagues Laxman (Shreyas Talpade) to play along.
Esha's boyfriend and a headstrong policeman, Maadhav (Arshad Warsi) discovers a dead body from the spot Gopal and Meera took refuge in. He uses the coincidence at which to settle his differences with Gopal and looks at pinning him for the crime.

“Golmaal Returns is the sequel to Golmaal and just like it’s predecessor this film too is about having fun. We didn’t make Golmaal with the intention of producing a super-hit as it turned out to be. Golmaal Returns is a similar attempt of making a good, clean, funny film that will give the audience a healthy doze of entertainment.
The great cast that worked on the first film has been retained with the exception of Sharman Joshi. Sharman has given way to Shreyas Talpade, who has been nothing short of a revelation in raising some laughs. Ajay Devgan’s and Arshad Warsi’s characters are lodged in a game of cat-and-mouse chases, which will be something to watch out for.
But, I must say the addition of Kareena Kapoor is the talking point of Golmaal Returns. She plays a woman besotted with Ekta Kapoor and her multitude of TV soaps. Her dialogues and character behaviour are modelled on what one sees and hears on these K soaps everyday.
I hope it will be an unique experience for the film’s viewers. A next step of sorts, to what we achieved with Golmaal.”
THE BUZZ
The film features Kareena Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade as additions to Golmaal's original cast. Kareena being part of the film spells big chances of success for the film Golmaal Returns as her films fair well consistently at the box-office. Singh Is Kinng was the only film that cashed in on the comedy genre this year and Golmaal Returns is a strong contender to do the same.
