With several multi-star films behind her, the actor admits that she has moved away from the path after realising that “I’d better do films wherein I make a difference.” But isn’t Jashnn... essentially the story of a struggling artist played by Adhyayan? “It is the story of a boy who knows what he wants but doesn’t know how to go about it. Somewhere my character, Sara, is responsible for his downfall as well as his rise like the proverbial Phoenix in the latter half of the film. A girl from a well-to-do family who falls in love with a ‘nobody’, she goes on to become his backbone and reinstate his faith in his dreams. The character presented a challenge towards the latter half of the film wherein I had to touch upon emotions that I had never experienced personally. She matures to an entire new mould of emotions and responsibilities,” points out the actor.
So much so that stepping into Sara’s shoes changed the actor’s perception of relationships. Someone who always viewed relationships and marriage as the most blissful phase of a girl’s life, Anjana’s now realised “the responsibilities that come with love. You are in charge of handling another person in his bad times.” However, contrary to a section of the media linking her with Tum Milo Toh Sahi co-star Rehaan Khan, the actress clarifies that she is not seeing anyone currently.
Meanwhile, talking about her Jashnn... co-star, Anjana says, “Adhyayan is a lot of fun, he’s a prankster. But more importantly, he’s touched such great emotions in the film at such a young age. He would often take us by surprise by his performances and we would be like, ‘How did you just do that?’”
Anjana, who has two more films up her sleeve, Tum Mile Toh Sahi, which is a multi-star film and Allah Ke Bande with Sharman Joshi, is unlikely to be in town to soak in the reviews that follow the release of Jashnn… on July 24. This as the actress, who is busy packing her bags, will be shooting for her Kannada debut opposite Ganesh in Maleyali Jotheyali that goes on the floors soon.
