From a coy Kashmiri girl in ‘Yahaan’ to a lovestruck teenager in ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’, Minissha Lamba can best be termed experimental, especially when it comes to the roles she has played. Unassuming and ethereal, she is now upbeat about her next release Kidnap.

“With each film I sign, I look to do roles that are versatile and have a hint of newness in them. I have managed to find that novelty so far. With Kidnap I have pushed the limit. I have actually seen how far I can go,” says the pretty actress about the roles she has executed till date.

In the movie, she plays the role of a young girl for whom life is a party till she gets kidnapped. But for Lamba, shooting for this movie was nothing less than a party. “I had a fabulous time working with Imran Khan. He is an extremely warm person and was a big support during the making of the movie. I simply adored the way he would be around all the time.”

Although she plays Sanjay Dutt’s daughter in the movie she did not have too many moments with him. “But whatever scenes I did with him, they were a learning experience. He is a complete actor,” she beams.

And with this role, she has taken versatility to another level by undergoing an image makeover. Lamba will be wearing a bikini for a key sequence in Kidnap and she has toned her body to carry it off sexily. “When the director Sanjay Gadhvi came to me with the film, he was clear about one thing — he wanted to completely change my look and make me go through a transition. He asked me whether I was game for it but honestly, I didn’t have any reason not to be a part of it. I immediately started working out and went on a strict diet.”

Didn’t she require any convincing whatsoever? “None at all,” replies the actor promptly, “We all know what he has done to his ladies in Dhoom and Dhoom 2. All his actresses have looked fabulous on screen.”

Lamba, the current It-girl of the industry, has had the good fortune of being cast opposite Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor in ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ and now another popular face, Imran Khan. This has made her an object of envy amongst the female fans. “Soon after the release of Bachna I attended this party where girls kept hurling abuses at me because I got to kiss Ranbir in the movie. I had to leave the place in a short while,” she smiles.

While she fears that more such instances can occur after Kidnap, she terms it her best role till date. “Besides, the role in Yahaan and Shaurya were special too.”

Lamba says she hasn’t signed any movies besides Kidnap. “For now, it is just the moment I want to enjoy.”
