Campaining nudity by Dr. Ram Chander Sharma on 2009-05-13 15:33:15.624124+05:30 The pasting of morphed posters of former MP Jaya Pradha allegdely by Azam Khan in Rampur U.P. is nothing but a calculated marketting stretegy emploey by companies using womenhood to sell their products. The Election Commission is acting like a dumb doll so is Behan Mayawati. It will not be surprising if we say women are also responsible for lowering of their status in society as in many cases women demand dowery for their sons in marriage. The 33% reservation of women in Lok Sabha is hanging when the ruling UPA Govt was headed by Sonia Gandhi who is its Chairman. The basic issue is the woman empowerment in Indian society which is not there. Today only 8% Indian women represent the lagislature and only 15% are in the Govt. services. If women are economically independent then they shall be able to exert their influenc in the society. Indian woman must be give equal oppertunities as they are about 50% of the population leave alone the female infanticide. The Rampur episode is a shame.

Is it worth? by Swapan Chakravarthy on 2009-05-13 11:17:51.422751+05:30 Politics has always been the game of dirty business. Laundering dirty linen is not new. The use of morphed pics of persons is also not something that should come to us as a surprise. When the world watched without abhorence the Monica Lewinsky interview as also the interview Diana gave to BBC, we know that we have entered the world where Mammon now rules the roost. Is it worth? I am sure that Mayawati will neither investigate nor apply NSA on the culprit.

It is shame for Rampur - the center of art and culture. by Naim Naqvi on 2009-05-13 08:29:23.372622+05:30 I am neither supporting Jaya Prada not Begum Noor. However, the publicizing the nudes of sitting M.P. is meanest act available in the arsenal of those who care two hoots about morality. Hitting below the belt is totally unacceptable in civilized society. Compaigners of Begum who called Jaya as Nanchne Gane Wali forgot the fact that Nawab Hamid Ali Khan and Nawab Raza Ali Khan were the great patrons of art and culture. Rampur is an ancient seat of art, culture and literature. This sordid drama has brought the worst name for Rampuris. Jaya is a decent, cultured and sophisticated lady. She had endeared herself with ordinary citizens through her sincerity, devotion and hard work. Azam Khan is jealous of her for obvious reasons. His personality is eclipsed behind the dominating presence of Jaya. He has made an excuse of Kalyan Singh because he wanted to join Congress. Whoever is involved in this sordid and abominable act must be brought to book A.S.A.P.

Framing Women by chandrakant on 2009-05-13 06:27:46.056517+05:30 Even 62 years of independence and 14 general elections later, we still find the feudal moorings hard to lift. Its a shame to stoop to such abysmal lows for garnering few votes. Also, Jayaprada instead of reacting spontaneously on the issue, looks like reading out prepared texts. This does not augur well for women aspirants. Whats the EC doing amidst all this?
