Fardeen & Saif to star in <i>Qurbaani's</i> remake

Bollywood may still be grimacing at Ram Gopal Varma’s disastrous remake of Sholay, but director Sanjay Gupta is planning another adaptation — of Feroz Khan’s blockbuster movie Qurbani. This time, however, the original filmmaker is hand in glove with the project: Khan will again turn producer for the new film, titled Kurbani, which will have son Fardeen playing the role Khan pere did with much aplomb in 1980.

While Gupta is hoping to rope in Saif Ali Khan to play Vinod Khanna’s role, Mallika Sherawat apparently refused the offer to take on Zeenat Aman’s part. But there will be reason to be nostalgic: the original music by composers Kalyanji-Anandji and Biddu is likely to be retained, so could the hit song Aap jaisa koi.
