Creative quotient
Enchanted comes from the Walt Disney studios and just like any of their fairy tales this film leaves the audience feeling all warm and cuddly.
The film is a simple love story of boy meets girl and they fall in love, but what makes the film special is the premise. This Disney fairy tale is set in the real world in New York.
Giselle (Amy Adams) lives in a forest and dreams of her prince charming. One day Prince Edward (James Marsden) hears her singing; they meet and fall in love. The Prince’s stepmother and the Evil Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon) sees their marriage as a threat to her crown and pushes Giselle down a well to get rid of her.
Giselle falls onto the street of New York. In NY she meets Robert (Patrick Dempsey) and his six year old daughter. She falls in love with Patrick and after some typical incidents involving poisoned apples and true love’s kisses; Giselle manages to slay the Queen in her dragon avatar. Prince Edward returns to his world with Nancy, Robert’s girlfriend and Giselle stays back in New York with Robert.

Technical expertise
What makes Enchanted special is its transition from a 2-D animated film to a real-life film with human actors. It starts off like an ordinary Disney animation film and turns into real actors when Giselle falls from the well and into New York.
There are no sudden twists, shocking developments or intelligent elements in this one. It’s a regular fairy tale and becomes so touching and moving because its characters emote like animated ones could never do.
Right from Amy Adams to Patrick Dempsey to Susan Sarandon the acting is magnificent. It feels and looks as good as Broadway. The clichéd fantasy developments like apples, prince charmings and dragons make you smile but it’s the reality factor that touches you.

Rating
Enchanted is worth three stars. One for the wonderful blend of animation and real world, a second one for the magnificent acting performances and the third for that timeless Disney charm of the film.
