Nick, which recently underwent a makeover to appeal to GenNext with techno music, slick and fast-paced graphics, is all set to take its movement of Let’s Just Play forward by organising a ten-hour play-a-thon, which aims to encourage to kids to play outdoors. The event to be organised along five cities - Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Lucknow - will have various games like football race, basketball relay, hanky hop, roll the tyre, wheelbarrow etc., which according to Nina Jaipuria, Senior VP & GM, Nick India, are twisted games that will appeal to the Gen Y kids. “The GenNext will be interested in games only if something new is offered to them,” she reasons. Nick introduced the concept of Let’s Just Play last year by plugging out the channel for 30 minutes. “Kids think that playing is not a cool thing to do, so we are trying to change their mindset by involving youth icons Abbani and Hasay, the MTV VJs who will give tips on fashion trends, dance grooves etc,” informs Nina. Raveena Tandon has been roped in as the brand ambassador for the initiative. Raveena, who loves to be involved in children’s causes, was more than willing to take it forward as she says “this issue is very close to my heart. I hardly see kids playing these days, they are either glued to the computers or television,” she laments. A mother of two, Raveena is particular about taking her son and daughter to the park in the evening as it “helps them grow mentally and physically.” As Nina concludes, “I may not be able to change all kids but even if one or two children are influenced I will be happy.” Nick has Nestle Milky Bar, which is currently running a campaign of Dum hai to bahar nikal, as their sponsors.

Calendar dreams
Ace lensman and CMD of Bling, Atul Kasbekar, is all set to judge a reality show The Hunt For Kingfisher Calendar on NDTV Imagine. The show will have12 finalists and one girl will make it to the Kingfisher Calendar. Says Atul, “I am very bullish about the show as this is the first reality show where the audience gets to see swimsuit clad women in all the 10 episodes starting from October 30. The final episode will be screened on January 1.” The winner will get to feature in the Kingfisher calendar along with four other models who have already been finalised. The shoot has various themes like shooting with animals, underwater works and in extreme cold conditions. Entrants are there from all over India, U.K. and South Africa and of Indian origin. Atul casts his vote for a girl called Nidhi, who is too short to make it to the final rounds, “but is someone to watch out for. The word photogenic defines her, she transforms in front of the camera.” The calendar shoot has been done at some of the world’s best beach resorts like Suneva Sushi and Soneva Gili on Maldives Islands. The team was there during Diwali and Atul had a surprise Diwali party. About the place, Atul says, “It is ridiculously luxurious and eco-friendly. They distil their own water and give it in glass , there is no plastic. They have strong values that we should carry back. It was an island - so our theme was green and blue.” Aki Narula is styling and the make- up artiste is Kapil Bhalla.

Will inglorious KRK be back?
There’s buzz that Kamaal R Khan or KRK as he calls himself will be going back into the Bigg Boss house sooner if not later. His presence in the house leads to a lot of drama, which translates into high TRPs. Agrees KRK, “I know the drama created by me is good. As for my going back, I have a contract of 86 days with the channel. If they ask me to go into the house I am duty-bound to do that.” Last week, KRK was thrown out in the most inglorious manner. In a fit of rage, he threw a bottle at another inmate Rohit Verma, which instead hit Shamita Shetty. Bigg Boss immediately asked him to pack his bags and leave. But KRK is unrepentant. “I did what was right. I had promised Sherlyn (Chopra) that I would see to it that she won’t be eliminated. I kept my promise by being ousted, otherwise I would have jumped the walls and escaped,” he reasons. According to him, the reason for his unpopularity in the house is not hatred, but insecurity. “The other inmates are scared of me because they know that if I am in the house I will win the show. With me out, everybody has a chance of winning,” he quips.
