Shiv Pandit
Shiv Pandit, who has hosted IPL Season 1, made his big-screen debut with Indarjit Nattoji’s Aagey Se Right

Launch Vehicle
I was launched by UTV in their film Aagey Se Right, wherein I played Shreyas Talpade’s friend. We are together throughout the film, helping each other solve our problems. I help him get back his lost gun and he helps me unite with my estranged girlfriend who is the police commissioner’s daughter.

Casting Coup
UTV approached me directly when they were looking out for someone to play Shreya’s friend’s role. I guess they had me in mind for the role. When they narrated the script, it sounded promising so I took it up. I didn’t even audition for the role.

Stepping-Stone
I have always believed that acting cannot be taught. I do not want to rely on somebody else’s expertise to break into the industry. Theatre has always fascinated me and I have been a theatre person since a long time. Theatre does help you grasp the finer nuances of acting, but I haven’t attended any acting workshops or resorted to doing an acting course. Having said that, I do not have anything against poeple who are a part of such courses.

First Shot
It was quite interesting considering that I hadn’t met Shreyas even once before the first shot. Both of us were complete strangers, but in spite of that we were able to translate that chemistry on screen. My director was also really happy and okayed the shot in a single take.

Stumbling-Block
I guess the only roadblock I ever faced or will face is that I do not have a godfather in the industry. I do not have a film background, I am a complete stranger to this industry, but I guess I shall see through it. So many people have survived without having a father-figure and I am sure even I will be able to.

Lessons Learnt
You have to have patience and perservarance to survive. I see so many people sticking around for so many years and giving it all up because something did not work in their favour. You have to be patient enough to land the right roles. Also, hard work pays in the long run so be ready to put in that extra effort.

Matinee Idol
I haven’t idolised anybody in particular. I am looking forward to working with all the new directors on the block. I am just one film old, I still have to establish myself. May be I will be in a better position to tell you who I want to work with in about two years’ time.

Future Projects
I am working in a film called Shaitan to be directed by Bijoy Nambiar. Bijoy has assisted Mani Ratnam in Raavan and is very talented. The film has an ensemble cast and I am part of the principle cast along with Kalki Koechlin. I am also having a huge debut down South with Leelai in another four weeks.
