Decent Parties is all about the dreams of a still photographer who makes it into the world of films
Decent Parties is in fact a mix of family sentiments and humour, with some messages to deliver too. Director Abraham Lincoln, who has directed three films before, namely Mazha Peyyumbol, Krishnapakshakilikal and Anamika, says, “ The film has a lot of light moments. It has a good storyline with the thrust of course on entertainment. There is not the usual mimicry kind of humour. It’s based on a well-written script by Kaloor Dennis. The film is based on a story by debutant Suresh Krishna and screenplay and dialogues by veteran Kaloor Dennis. Asked to comment on the title, Abraham Lincoln says, “In fact the film’s protagonist Sudheendran happens to make his way into filmdom and get associated with the making of a film. Decent Parties is the name of that film”. This is the first time that Abraham Lincoln, who has been associated with films for three decades and whose brother, the late Jaycee, has been one of the most sensitive filmmakers in Malayalam, is making a full-fledged commercial venture. Says he, “I didn’t like being stereotyped. My previous films were all different from one another. And it’s in keeping with the same tendency that I strayed into making a commercial venture, with the thrust on entertainment. I wanted people to come see this film and so I have gone in for the commercial format and a bigger canvas.” Asked about the budget, Abraham Lincoln says, “We have done it all with much of planning and the film has been made with a medium budget.”

The producer of the movie, Vincent Abraham alias Vincent Mekkunnel, a businessman based in Moovattupuzha, has been attracted to films ever since his early youth. He does a key role in the film, that of the President of the Photographers Association of the town, who is a guru-like figure to the hero. Says Vincent Abraham, “I have been associated with the making of Decent Parties in all ways. I have been involved right from the subject discussion. It was the story that impressed me. I remember that during the story narration by Suresh Krishna, who makes his debut as the story writer, those present there had turned emotional. Eyes had turned moist. I liked the subject and so I undertook to produce the movie. It’s an entertainer till the interval and then it takes a twist.” The film is almost finished and all set to hit screens.
