Majja Ni Life - unique album by a radio jockey
Saregama India Ltd. launched Majja Ni Life, India’s first Gujarati music album by a Radio Jockey, RJ Dhvanit, at a glittering function in Ahmedabad.
Majja Ni Life, a first-of-its kind album, is a collection of eight Gujarati songs of myriad hues and emotions. Beginning with a foot-tapping Pappa dude chhe, the album offers a tribute to the people of Amdavad (Ahmedabad), RJ Dhvanit’s hometown, for their undying spirit and zest for life.
The launch of Majja Ni Life completes the Rags to Ragas circle for RJ Dhvanit, who began his professional career with an insurance company as an assistant and then went on to host a radio show.
“The message I want to give with this album is that Gujarati music is not just about garba and bhajans. It is as contemporary as any other music. While Gujaratis are known to be prolific travellers and super-achieving business people, when it comes to music, we are stereotyped. And this is exactly what I am attempting to break,’’ says RJ Dhvanit.
Atul Churamani, Vice President - Saregama India Limited, said, “It’s a complete pleasure for us to be associated with this project. There is a dire need to launch new talented Gujarati artistes in the market.”
