Chandru T Sadarangani, in his advertisement that appeared in a film trade weekly Complete Cinema, had claimed that along with the films made by Prabhakar Nikalankar, Bhaubij made by Rajankumar Shah under the banner of Vaibhav Chitra , Anant Mane’s Panch Rangachi Panch Pakhare, Shriram Gojamgunde’s Zhatpat Karu De Khatpat, Dinkar Patil’s Kama Purta Mama, Gajanan Jagirdar’s Sawli Premachi, the late Madhavrao Shinde’s Thamb Laxmi Kunku Lavte and the rights of twenty two more films lie with Tarun Films International. Nikalankar expressed deep shock on hearing about the claim. Not only did he lodge a complain at the Bandra and Andheri police stations, he also located Sadarangani’s office to inquire in the matter. But the latter tried to dodge Nikalankar impersonating himself. But when was caught, he promised to send an apology letter. Nikalankar has now decided to tap the Home minister’s door.
“ I am flabargasted at Sadarangani’s behaviour,” said Nikalankar adding,” Sadarangani’s decision to sell of the rights of my films and scores of others has come as a great shock to all of us. There are several filmmakers who are based in Kolhapur have expressed surprise at Sadarangani’s stance. It may be noted that Madhavrao Shinde who had made several black and white movies under the banner of Surel Chitra had given of the film’s rights to his son-in-law. But Sadarangani has claimed that the rights lie with him. The case is already in the Court.” Giving away film rights is another matter but giving away negative rights sends out another feeling to the public. Nikalankar has also asked filmmakers in Kolhapur to submit the names of their films to the Film body there.Nikalankar has cautioned all Marathi film producers to be cautious in their activity.
It is surprising to note that film’s of V. Shantaram namely Kunku, Shejari, Manoos and Amar Bhopali alos feature in Sadarangaini’s list of films. Expressing his surprise, Kiran Shantaram said, “ All the rights of the films made by Rajkamal, lie with us and there is no question of pasing them out to another party.” Going by Nilkalankar’s activities, Manish Shah of Goldmine Telefilms Pvt Ltd has revealed some bare facts to the Bandra police. He has futher in his plaint said that Sadarangani has harmed himself than others by doing such a nefarious activity.
