Chandni Chowk To China, a Bollywood Kungfu comedy takes you on a madcap journey from the by-lanes of Chandni Chowk in Delhi, to Shanghai, the Great Wall and rural China. The protagonist Sidhu (Akshay Kumar) works for a roadside food stall in Chandni Chowk in Delhi. He longs to escape his dreary existence and looks for shortcuts- with astrologers, tarot readers and fake fakirs - believing anything except himself, despite his father figure Dada's (Mithun Chakraborty) best efforts. His redeeming moment arrives when two strangers from China claim him as a reincarnation of a war hero in the past and take him to China. Sidhu now dreams of wine, women, and a princely existence in foreign lands. Thanks to the translator, a conman by the name Chopstick (Ranvir Shorey), little does he know that he is being taken to the Promised Land to rid the Chinese village of the vicious smuggler Hojo (Gordon Liu)! Therefore, Sidhu blissfully sets forth to China with Chopstick who instigates dreams of a delicious future and forgets to reveal the perils, which await him. Along the way, he meets Sakhi (Deepika Padukone), Ms. Tele Shoppers Media (Ms. TSM) who is on her way to the land of her birth. Initially, Sidhu through a series of lucky coincidences manages to sidestep being beaten by Hojo's men but finally Hojo catches up with him and exposes him as the country buffoon that he really is. Sidhu has the fire of revenge in his belly and finds the one man who will make him a Kungfu expert and set the village free. Armed with his Sifu (master), faith in himself and the love of the fair Sakhi, Sidhu sets forth to conquer all!

Akshay kumar - Sidhu
Sidhu’s lowly existence takes a turn for the exotic with the arrival of two strangers who claim him to be the reincarnation of a war hero and insist on taking him to China. Talking about the film he says, “The fact that it is the first time that a Hindi film has been shot at the Great Wall of China, got me excited. Chandni Chowk To China is the story of an Indian chef who is mistaken for a martial-art-teacher in China and the confusion that follows.”

Deepika Padukone - Ms. TSM/ mEOW
Better known as Ms Teleshopper’s Media (TSM), Sakhi is the Indian brand ambassador to a range of quirky Chinese gizmos. She is on a journey to pay homage to the land where she lost her Chinese father to a villainous Hojo. She will be seen sporting two different looks in the film and talking about her get ups she says, “Jaimal, a designer from New York is designing my Indian and action look that is very glamorous. Mallika Bhatt designed my Chinese look which has me looking very petite and oriental with poker- straight hair.

The film’s flavour comes from Akshay’s real life. He’s a boy from Chandni Chowk who went to Bangkok as a cook. Before I started making this film, my interest in martial arts was restricted to Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Bruce Lee and the Crouching Tigers of the world. Akshay made me watch a lot of action scenes. Before we left for China he’d make me sit down every morning and make me watch one Kung-Fu film and explain the sub-texts. By the time we left to shoot I understood all forms of martial arts much better. We went to China for a total of 95 days. We shot for 89 days in Shanghai and in the interiors of China and lots of action sequences on top of the Great Wall Of China. The action sequences are very complicated and different, nothing like we generally see. The action builds the plot and characters. Chandni Chowk To China is a children’s film. After watching the film, lots of kids will be joining karate classes.

THE BUZZ
The film will see Deepika Padukone don two drastically different looks in the film, one Oriental and the other Indian. Also it is the first Indian film to have been shot on the Great Wall of China. The film also has some adrenaline pumping action sequences.
