Venting his anger on some politicians for their comments over the ghastly Mumbai terror attacks, Bollywood director Karan Johar says they should be ‘bashed’.

"Politicians, soulless and emotionless, were addressing the country while reading off of tele-prompters. Can you not feel anything? Can you say nothing to make us feel just a little more secure in your hands?" his blog says.

Applauding NSG and media for their roles, Johar writes, "Certain politicians should be bashed. Poorly conducted 'press conferences' announcing the death and casualty toll for foreigners with the speaker unable to successfully read a list from a sheet of paper, confusing Austria for Australia and generally making us look like illiterate idiots to a global audience. It left me embarrassed and struggling to find pride in our government".

Johar was in New York when the incident took place. "I was glued to the TV screen since late Wednesday night when security personnel battled the terrorists in the city for 62 hours.

"In times like these, it becomes a challenge to look at the big picture. Terror attacks, massive loss of life the reality eventually forces you to look at how we react individually and as a collective community."

On people's safety in Mumbai, he writes, "In our every day lives where maybe we went to Tiffin for lunch or did some window-shopping at the Taj, we now feel unsafe in our cars with tinted windows and our buildings with multiple watchmen.

We now feel what a section of the city's lower-middle class felt on July 11, 2006 when their security was threatened. "Affluent members of society now prance around panels claiming Mumbai is no longer safe. This city isn't safe now, nor was it safe two years ago," he writes.

INDIA-RUSSIA NUCLEAR DEAL by Yash on 2008-12-05 14:48:44.150502+05:30 India -Russia nuclear deal (10,000 crore) Actually this very serious issue because Russian nuclear technology is very poor. Russian safety track record world knows like chernobyl , nuclear submarine accidents. (God knows how many accident took place under communist regime) I don't understand why this congress government behind russian products only in military field. If government says russian product are cheap. Thenwhy air india not going for civilian aircrafts from russia Buy AEROFLOAT instead of AIRBUS or BOEING (If we buy AEROFLOAT nobody would travel by air india including our politicians) What is ulterior motive behind this deal, safety or money ?

Political seriouseness by Yash on 2008-12-05 12:39:41.682792+05:30 Just last week mayhem took place in mumbai. But look at our central government very buzy with selection of Maharastra chief minister. this actually very minor affair of state government. But central government spending their valuble time on Maha CM. This shows how serious is our administration. Unfortunately whole T.V channels are behind this issue. Gradually people will forget mumbai terror attack like what happend in Assam last month. And then our people are behind Sasu bahu

letter for a brave soldier by lara on 2008-12-03 21:40:57.425908+05:30 Dear Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan , I feel so sorry that we belong to a country where the supreme sacrifice made by a brave soldier gets undeserving comments from politicians who don’t know a fig about courage, heroism, bravery… ‘‘The safety, honour and welfare of your country, come first, always and every time. The honour, welfare and comfort of the men you command comes next. Your own ease, comfort and safety comes last, always and every time. ’’This is the code of honour that is instilled in the men from the defence and they don’t think twice before fighting with terrorists about anything else. Everyday there are names of people in the list of obituaries from the army. How many people think about them or their families and their loss. It is true that for this nation to sleep well and see another tomorrow, these people manning the borders and fighting with cross border terrorism, sacrifice their lives and give up their today. The CM of kerela’s comment outrages me. How could he? It’s a matter of shame. Was it your age to sacrifice your life knowingly and willingly for the safety of your countrymen ? This is the age when young men think of settling down in their lives and move ahead in their careers . I am sorry that you sacrificed your life…. for a nation like this. I am so sorry that your parents lost such a brave child. Wherever you are just do know that there are some people who are so proud of you. Regards

poor response, karan by SB on 2008-12-02 14:49:14.104663+05:30 All Karan could think of during the tragedy was what international community woudl think of India for misspelling Australia as Austria or whatever. Plus, the great filmmaker applauds the media, who actually messed up things for TRP. And he beats the usual stick at the politicians. While he write about his feelings (of car windows etc.) there was no word of condemnation about the type of people that did this. When hundreds lost their husbands, Karan was thinking about others opinion of his country for wrong pronounciation of a country's name. Is that what matters to you? Anyone can bash politicians... Why dont you talk about the problem? He is worried about the poor show India put up for the media and his problem of not being able to have tiffin in Tiffin room. Well done...

corrupt politicians by Jayant.Karambelkar on 2008-12-02 14:18:55.961084+05:30 Very true and I agree. It was really worth watching the face of Mr.Sanjay Nirupam when the people's wrath turned on him and how sheepish he looked.I am sure all of them would have looked very much the same as him irrespective of which party they belonged. It would be in the interest of all politicians to keep their mouth shut for the present as the people of tis country are really fed up of their antics and have seen through them. For their own good let them lie low for the present this is my advise.

Indian corrupt politicians---- by romesh.sharma on 2008-12-02 13:33:11.516285+05:30 Bashing these immoral politicians alone is not the right solution.they are shameless, prideless and have not an iota of self-respect.You throw them physically or ostracize them but they will agains stand-up and beseech shamelessly to win back sympathy. They are born with cunning charcteristics and full of malice and of course have no love/passion for human beings. There are many examplary cases like Laloo,Paswan,Amar singh (one and two),Karunanidhi,Patils,Govindacharya,Mayawati,Sonia and her brood,Anthoy and all communists------ so on.Not to forget the newly turned psedo-secular the PM Singh. In some or the other way they are simply dividing the people and harming Nation's security.Such ploticians must be banned to participate in Indian politics.Their intransigent and fastidious attitude is anti-democracy but of selfish motives.Yes they must be punished and Indians have to learn from Thailand. They are terrorizing citizens more with their screwd dirty politics.

Karan Johar's Blog by Johnson Thomas K on 2008-12-02 00:45:12.264895+05:30 Dear Editor/ Karan Johar,We in India tolerate those journos and politicians who sap out every iota of self respect in us by putting down our heritage, civilisation, rightful achievements etc to promote a primitive view of India. We need another intellectual war of independence to save us from our British colonial baggage. Look at the British government and their media they don't even cover our prime minister's visit to Britain as we do for the British Prime Minister in India. The British embassy has "advisors" in India for British journalists telling them what to and what not to cover in India. Their (British) archive pictures of India are always derelict, slum India even when they are not relevant. We simply accept even their mispronunciation of Ganga and Himalayas. How do we expect Indian politicians groomed in such contempt for Bharath to behave and conduct themselves? Learn from the Jewish community

Do poiliticians feel anything?? by Prem on 2008-12-01 22:19:04.17621+05:30 It is appalling to notice that the politicians need a paper or a teleprompter to give their feelings of what happened. It is despicable that they fumble upon words and cannot even show any feeling whatsoever. How can the deputy CM of Maharashtra say, "these thing happen in big cities"?? If he had a relative or a family member among the ones who died, will he still say the same?? Or for that matter if any of the politician's kins were in that incident, will they still behave like vegetables? Truly despicable

Indian Politics by amit on 2008-12-01 21:52:44.06138+05:30 I Truely agree with Mr.Karan Johar, that indian politics is selfish, and it is because of them that india's population is out of control and there is no law for that and it is because of them that india is still lacking in basic amenities in most of the states, and i feel ashamed when few white people ask me over here in toronto that do you guys have cars or air-conditioners over there in india its because of our dirty politics that india has a backward Image in the world. first of all Politicans should be young

Churlish by saikatb on 2008-12-01 20:38:16.303359+05:30 Mr. Johar's emotions are understandable - it is the emaotion that multitudes from India are feeling. But what I finding annoying and churlish - Mr. Johar is not alone in expressing this - is that somehow we should be worried about India's image abroad. This has always been the problem in India. When bombs went off in Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, then this question of image was not being emphasized as much.We should realize that security and lives of any and all Indians is the most basic human right that needs to be protected by the government and it should not be emphasized simply because of India's image abroad. Based on the former and not the latter, should we be demanding a response from the government.

Good Job Johar by ABCXYZ on 2008-12-01 20:33:17.653002+05:30 Good Job Johar,It is really really rare that someone from show business will come forward and bash these politicians. Undoubtedly, that we are in this situation because of these cold blooded, heartless, irresponsible, ruthless, cruel, selfish politicians (I should have said just politician instead of using all the adjectives, politician word itself is above all these adjectives). But, it's us, well educated people who select them and even don't come forward to say the truth. There will be no one other than us, who understand what is right and wrong, that every life (whatsoever religion they belong to) has the same value, need to come forward and raise our voice. DO NOT let this issue cool down. We should force our government to take action. We cannot take this for granted like every other terror attack. If common man is scared and can't do much, it is the responsibility of big shots like businessmen, celebrities, players, MEDIA etc to come forward and atleast write blogs, say truth.

Our politicians and politics are our own 'terrorists' by Jayson Shaw on 2008-12-01 20:14:35.685246+05:30 Karan:You are absoulutely correct. These politicians travel more to European cities than they travel to their constituents and to bungle up big time makes a mockery of India as a whole. From adminstratively, security as well as hostage-rescue operations. First of all we lack manpower (shame that inspite of our huge population we cannot have enough police and NSG personnel) proper equipment and training and when countries like England and Israel offer help we in our 'pride' turn down their help. Who knows seeking their help would have saved many lives and at the same time would provide our personnel a real training lesson. But than again this is India, where politics and politicians are our biggest 'terrorist'.
