Blue is below-average

Blue is made on a budget of 80 crore, making it one of the most expensive movies in India. One needed to optimise the capital to good use rather than letting the liquid money just evaporate without any profits. Blue kicks of with a song shot underwater, which gives you a look at marine life. This is followed by a shark sequence - quite disillusioning because that is the only stunt that you get to see with the sharks.

Blue is about how big money is being wasted on shallow projects. Weak dialogues, a wafer-thin plot and silly situations - there is hardly anything apart from the superficial gloss that connects the investment with the yield. The much-touted treasure hunt begins only late in the second half and is over without providing any thrills. By the way, the treasure got lost in the Bahamas on the way to India from the UK. Is there any such route?

It’s high time Akshay Kumar does the right kind of films - Blue will certainly slide him down from the big league. Sanjay Dutt looks haggard and completely unfit and Zayed Khan wears single expression throughout the movie. The music is a big letdown by A R Rahman.

Blue has no emotional connect with the audience. Better switch to National Geographic or Discovery instead of wasting time and money on this regressive movie. At the box-office Blue might get the initial collection because of hype but will emerge as a big disaster.
