Amitabh bachchanMNS has welcomed a recent announcement by Bachchan to support and promote a Marathi movie.
After victory of as many as 13 candidates in the Assembly elections, Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) is in a magnanimous mood, lauding superstar Amitabh Bachchan for his gesture of offering help to a Marathi film for its Oscar bid.

The turnaround may sound "filmi" as it was the same outfit which had launched an agitation against Bachchan, targeting him for "being more loyal to Uttar Pradesh than Maharashtra."

MNS has welcomed a recent announcement by Bachchan to support and promote Marathi movie 'Harishchandrachi Factory' by Paresh Mokashi.

The film, about how Dadasaheb Phalke made the nations first motion picture 'Raja Harishchandra', has been selected as India's entry for Oscars.

"It is a good thing that Bachchan is supporting the film for Oscar awards. We welcome his move," MNS general secretary Shirish Parkar said.

This is not the first time that the Big B has offered help to a Marathi movie.

In November 2004, the Bollywood actor donated Rs one lakh to producers of 'Shwaas', the Marathi film that was then selected as India's entry at the Oscars.

The money donated was towards the fund-raising drive organised by the team to ensure widescale publicity and promotion for the film competing in the best foreign language category at the Oscars.

The actor had described the donation as a "small" and "insignificant" contribution.

Bachchan's AB Corporation has produced a Marathi film, 'Vihir' (Well) which is all set for release.

"Though he has become a star in Mumbai, his interest is in Uttar Pradesh. That is why he was trying to be an ambassador of UP rather than Maharashtra," Raj had said, launching his tirade against the actor last year.

MNS called off its campaign against Bachchan in September last year, after Amitabh apologized at a press conference and on his blog to pacify MNS activists who ripped posters of his movie 'The Last Lear'.

Raj had also been miffed over Jaya Bachchan's remarks at a films music launch last year that she would speak in Hindi as she was from Uttar Pradesh.

Reporting with agenda by Shreekar Joshi on 2009-10-30 20:06:59.352669+05:30 The actual event is this: Shirish Parkar, MNS general secretary said that he is happy that AB is helping a Marathi movie. There is nothing else to report - all other things are conjecure or rehash of older news, wrongly attributed as shown below:Please notice how the 'news item' does not report the fact that AB had said that he is still 'ganga kinarewala chhora' etc. Those remarks are attributed to Raj T.

MNS has to start work with positive big brotherly attitude by SCV on 2009-10-30 11:37:19.947009+05:30 As I see it there is a very big scope for the young and energetic people in MNS to set out with a positive attitude to fill too much vacuum in many fields in Mumbai, Maharshtra and India. On political, legal, social levels so much aid can be offered by them as a service provider which will bring them closer to the people who have been deprived of so many genuine needs. If MNS takes this approach, I think they will score over and above all political parties engaged in filling their own pockets. As a new entrant MNS needs goodwill from all sections of the society. Just like what RSS used to do some time ago. Notwithstanding caste, sex, statehood or any such discriminatory factors. They must solve people's problems and win their hearts. This is an investment in people stage for them as I urge them to get going with. All of us need a good change. MNS can provide it.

1 Good suggestion; MNS, take it up
by Kalidas M on 2009-10-30 15:27:37.654363+05:30I agree with you. Will the top people in this new party take note of this good suggestion? That is exactly the reason MNS has been voted for, I think - for some good change in all sections of the society. Not only in Maharashtra, that is, too.
