"Getting a chance to act in a Marathi film was always on my mind since it is my mother tongue. However, lack of good scripts and availability of dates posed a problem. But for this film, everything fell in place and the entire schedule was easily manageable," Bhagyashree, who is cast opposite popular actor Bharat Jadhav in the film, told reporters.
The movie also marks the coming together of Bhagyashree, Lata Mangeshkar and Music composer Ram –Laxman after 20 years, the first being 'Maine Pyar Kiya'.
The actress said that Marathi cinema is on an upswing and she was open to doing more films in this language.
"I play the role of Asmita, wife of protagonist (Bharat Jadhav) who pretends to be single for the sake of his job. The story takes a hillarious twist when his boss's daughter falls for him and wants to get married," Bhagyashree said adding director Bhaskar Jadhav has shot the film lavishly.
On campaigning in the current electioneering, the actress said she had campaigned for some candidates whom she knew personally and "had a good track record of social work." Bhagyashree campaigned for Datta Meghe, the Congress candidate in Wardha last week.
The actress said she had no plans to enter into active politics.
"I am more content with social causes and would support anyone who is involved in social work. Active politics needs lot more dedication, time, effort. It is a full time job", she said.
Bhagyashree, who was the first to be voted out of 'Jhalak Dhikla ja- Season Three', enters the show this week on a wild card entry.
She said she was joining the show again due to contractual obligations.
"I found all happenings in the show very weird. The producers also seemed be confused about the concept of reality dance show. But I have no hard feelings and it was a learning experience," she said.
'Zhak Marli...' releases on April 24 and her Hindi film 'Red Alert-The Enemy Within' opposite Sunil Shetty is also ready for release.
