KK - Humsafar
Sony-BMG, Rs 175
The first track, Aasmaan ke hai saare taare is the best in this mixed-bag album. KK’s compositions are of varying calibre (and to be fair, of varying colours), but his singing is uniformly top-grade. As a composition and also in terms of Mehboob’s lyrics, Yeh kahaan mil gaye hum leads. Baul inspires another good track Rain bhayee kaari. The rest of the tracks are average and go the rock and Western way.
Yaadein - Amit Sana
Times Music, Rs 149
The title-track, Yaadein, has Sufi-rock elements and a nice hook. Junaid’s lyrics in Woh ho tum are interesting but the tune somehow is too tepid for the intensity of the sentiments, except for the refrain. The catchiest tracks are Aaja meri jaan composed by Rajeev Bhalla and Mere khayalon mein composed by Ishq Bector.
