The couple who have been married for over three years are going through a private adoption agency and hope to bring the baby home this summer.
"Both Ashton and Demi finally came to terms with the reality that (childbirth) is just not going to happen for them," an source close to the couple told the newspaper.
"They had always resisted adoption because they wanted a baby of their own, but now everything has changed," the source added.
The 46-year-old actress and her 30-year-old husband Kutcher are reportedly planning to adopt a baby boy as Demi already has three daughters with former husband, action star Bruce Willis.
The whole family is delighted, and Demi's three daughters can't wait for their new sibling to arrive.
The couple who are both enthusiastic supporters of new President Barack Obama apparently got inspired to adopt by new President Obama's call for service.
"It hit them that in this new period of hope and change, one of the best things they could do for a child and for themselves , is to adopt a baby," the source added.
