After wrapping up Lamha, the Sanjay Dutt- Bipasha Basu film set in troubled Kashmir, national award-winning director Rahul Dholakia is in a mood to make a lighter film. “My next project is a comedy. Called Society - Madness On The Side, it is a new experiment we are trying, wherein none of the actors are going to act - they are going to play characters,” elaborates the Parzania maker. He has “spoken to” Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia, Sarika, Om Puri and Paresh Rawal about this novel concept. “They all want to be a part of the process and they are all going to sit on the script with me and we are going to brainstorm together,” he reveals further. The film will be shot in sych sound and since all these are brilliant actors, “ there will be no camera and action and cut.”

In addition to the senior star-cast, the film stars Kunal Kapoor and there will be three new heroines that Dholakia is currently casting for. While it is a story that came up during one of his “discussions with Sarika”, the dialogues will be penned by Sanjay Chhel. The film is set to go on the floors towards the end of the year, depending on the combination of dates of the cast,”I hope all the actors involved remain as charged as they are right now,” says Dholakia earnestly.

He is off to the US only after “locking finances and the first draft of Society”. Incidentally, he has a house in Los Angeles that he hasn’t visited since the month of March. “I will be gone for a month to sort things out.”

As soon as he is back, he will complete the pending seven-day shoot of Lamha, which requires three days’ work with Bipasha and four of the actors will be shot in Mumbai. “It is not patchwork but a part of the screenplay,” he clarifies. Further, he brushes aside all the reports about his ‘not-being-on-talking-terms’ with his producer saying, “All is well between Bunty Walia and me. Those reports were unneccesary drama. We are cool with each other about this things, there is no problem between us,” he stresses.
