Amarnath: Bhandari along with 2,000 Samiti men courts arrest

Prof Rajinder Bhandari, the state president of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) today courted arrest along with members of Shri Amarnath Sangharash Samiti. The members of the Samiti marched towards Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner (DC) office to register their protest against the Congress government and demand restoration of land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board.

The members, around 2,000 in number, who courted arrest near Mini Secretariat in the afternoon were released later. There were a number of women among the agitators. The protesting members raised slogans against the Central Government and demanded that land be returned to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board.

Eminent persons, who courted arrest included Prof Rajinder Bhandari, BJP state president, Anil Sareen, state general secretary of BJP, Parveen Bansal, Sunita Aggarwal, Renu Thapar, Vijay Singh of RSS, Sukhminder Singh Grewal, Punjab state chief of BJP Investors’ Cell, Narayan Dass, Atul Krishan of Bishav Hindu Parishad etc. Earlier, the agitating members organised a protest rally outside the Mini Secretariat.
