Oberoi Mall in Mumbai kicked off its Diwali celebrations on 17th October by hosting a special Diwali celebration day dedicated for 50 children from 'Make A Wish Foundation'. The Diwali celebration began with the children and their parents arriving in the morning and first being taken to PVR Cinema for a special film screening – ‘Cheenti Cheenti Bang Bang’.

After the screening, they were taken to the Mall's food court - Spoon - for lunch and then to its recreational space - Fun City - which proved to be very entertaining and exciting for the children.

The celebration then culminated in an exclusive event, which was held in the Mall's central atrium and began with a Wish Granting Session, where each child was granted a wish of their choice. Akshay Kumar and Olympic medallist Vijender Singh took turns in presenting each child with their respective wish gifts.

This was followed by a play boxing match with the entire children group and the two celebrities. The event concluded with a short boxing bout between Akshay Kumar and Vijendra Singh.

LOST IN LIMELIGHT by Manish Bakshi on 2008-10-18 21:05:21.941509+05:30 Kudos to Indian olympic medallist Vijender Singh for bringing laurels to the country but sadly he is going the traditional Indian way of one time achievers like Malleswari devi, Mr Rathod and many more. We, indians, would surely like to see the next medal from this medallist who seems to be spending more time in tinsel town than boxing ring.
