It’s a busy time for Khan now. The failure of Tashan is behind him, as he readies for the release of yet another film from the Yash Raj stable. Kunal Kohli’s Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic brings Khan back together with Rani Mukerji in a movie that is supposed to be the director’s tribute to Shekhar Kapur’s Mr India. The two had woven box-office magic with Hum Tum and a beleaguered Yash Raj production house, reeling from a spate of failures, is hoping the movie will recreate their old magic and revive their flagging fortunes. Khan, for his part, is simply excited to be back on familiar turf. “It was almost like a family reunion. It is a complete pleasure to work with Kunal and Rani,” he says.
Even as Khan shoots for Frito-Lay ads with MS Dhoni, work’s also under way on his home production that is being directed by Imtiaz Ali. The first schedule of the film, which has him and Deepika Padukone in the lead, has begun in London. The film will see Khan going in for another makeover, with his favourite hairstylist Aalim Hakim gladly giving him a new look. Khan vouches, with all the enthusiasm of a debut producer, that his film is an original attempt. After London, Khan and his crew will move to San Francisco and then Delhi for the shoot.
