Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan had a home made surprise in store for the soldiers during his recent trip to Kargil; 'Gajar Ka Halwa' and 'Aam Ras' cooked by his superstar wife Aishwarya Rai amd mother Jaya Bachchan.

Abhishek travelled to Kargil to pay tribute to the war heroes ahead of Vijay Diwas on July 26 and met with the soldiers.

The actor who took an 8-hour long drive to pay his tributes to the soldiers who lost their lives in the Kargil war 10 years ago, also had a special message for the soldiers from his legendary father Amitabh Bachchan.

Abhishek who was in the high altitude region recited the famous poem 'Agnipath' composed by his late grandfather Harivansh Rai Bachchan.

The junior Bachchan also visited some of the locations where Kargil war was fought and recounted his experiences while shooting for the movie "LOC Kargil", which was inspired by the war.

Following the normal route taken by jawans, Abhishek walked across the Zojilla pass and met soldiers at each point along the way.

He visited a bunker at Sando top and even tried his hand at firing a few rounds with them at the training centre.

Jai Jawan!! by Abhijit on 2009-07-24 10:43:43.465094+05:30 I salute Abhisheik for what he has done. We as a nation forget all too easily the sacrifices of our defence forces. We hardly ever celebrate our glorious wins of the previous wars with Pak. What are we scared off?? The D-Day (Normandy Beach) invasion is still proudly celebrated in the Allied countries. In Indian we have a President (who is the Commander of the defence forces) who refuses to partake in the celebrations due to be held in Drass on 26th July 2009. Our Defence Minister is so busy that he can't spare time either to make it to the hallowed heights of Drass. It's a shame really.
