Abhishek Ray has been composing music since his school days. Professionally trained in the piano (Western classical) and Hindustani classical vocals, he began his career by singing and composing music for television channels. After having composed music for more than 500 television serials and ad films, Abhishek became known with his first album Udaas Paani with Gulzar. After the success of this album he composed albums like Raat, Chand Aur Main and Kab Aate Ho while completing his Masters in Computer Applications from Delhi.

Abhishek made his debut in films with the exceptional background music for Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Haasil, followed by Ahista Ahista. Simultaneously, he released a whole series of international world music albums with Music Today called Amazing India, which had titles like Symphonies Of The Taj, Call Of The Desert, Jaisalmer and Echoes Of Khajuraho. Then he went on to sing and compose an evocative album on Indian seasons, Ritu on Music Today and Neemrana Music.

He then entered the Tamil industry by delivering the smash hit - Thoondil, the highest-grossing film from the South, in which Abhishek has also sung with Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal. Abhishek has also composed music for the yet-to-be-released feature film Tumse Milkar with lyrics penned by Gulzar. He has recently composed the title music for the Hollywood film Shoot On Sight. Among the many documentaries,he has composed music for, Abhishek got the RAPA Award as best music director for Maharaja Of Jodhpur on Discovery channel.
His forthcoming releases include Adlabs presentation Shaagird, a dark film starring Nana Patekar and Rimi Sen. He is currently working on two films in the South and on Petrol Pump by Ketan Anand.
