Launch
Previously I had a small role in Sudhir Mishra's Khoya Khoya Chand. And now in Madhur Bhandrakar's Fashion I play an aspiring actor. I am paired opposite Kangana Ranaut who is a supermodel. We are in a relationship with each other but there are a lot of problems between us and it is more like a compromise.

Casting coup
I got to know that Madhur was conducting auditions and was looking out for new faces. That is when I decided to go and meet him. After the screen-test Madhur told me that I had been selected. I guess he believed in me and thought I had the potential to convincingly portray the character, which gave me confidence.

Stepping stone
When I came to Mumbai five years back, I did a 6-month acting course with Roshan Taneja. After that I worked in a couple of television serials like Kasauti Zindagi Kay and Kavyanjali. I have also appeared in a few ad commercials like Titan with Aamir Khan and Lakme with Katrina Kaif.

First Shot
In my very first shot, I was supposed to be rude to my girlfriend in the film. It is a shot where I look at Kangana menancingly. I had to give her a really mean look.

Stumbling Block
Coming from a non-filmy background, I had my share of problems. I came to Mumbai from Haryana five years back with dreams of becoming an actor. It took me a lot of time to break into the industry. Nobody in the industry is ready to give you work.

Lessons learnt
The five years that I spent in Mumbai have made me the strong person I am today. It has completely changed my perspective towards life. Though some get it on a platter, I have realised that I have to struggle to achieve something in life. This industry is such that you have to face a lot of rejection, but it actually teaches you to take things in your stride and move on. It teaches you to appreciate things that you otherwise took for granted.

Matinee Idol
The industry is full of talented people. They are what they are today because they are special. A lot of good actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Dilip Kumar are people who I look up to. Actually I admire everyone for their talent and perseverance.
