A Delhi ‘Mannat’ for Shah Rukh Khan?

Wedged between a fire station and the ongoing construction of Delhi Metro’s underground corridor, King Khan’s dream house is steadily heading towards completion.

But Shah Rukh will have to shell out at least Rs 74.46 lakh before he can think of moving in.

The 1 Jor Bagh address, which had been bought by M/s Columbia Estates (P) Ltd for Rs 6.12 crore in April 2002, has a pending tax which needs to be cleared.

Official sources said the value of the property had recently been assessed and the dues are likely to go up. Interestingly, like his Mumbai residence, which faces the Bandra seafront, the house in the upmarket Jor Bagh has also been named Mannat.

Official sources said the building plans for the 1466.7 sq yard plot were first sanctioned on 22 August 2006. But it is believed that revised building plans were filed again in October 2007.

“This is the time the property is believed to have shifted hands, as the construction plans sanctioned earlier were changed,” sources added. King Khan is himself believed to have been involved in changing plans, in an effort to make the house more suitable for his family.

Official records, however, still do not list Shah Rukh as the owner. That slot carries the name of Emaar MGF group’s Shravan Gupta. Siddharth Sareen has been named as the director of the purchasing company.

A group of workers at the site claimed the plot belongs to Shravan Gupta. A few neighbours, however, said Shah Rukh himself had visited the site last October. When contacted by Newsline, Shah Rukh Khan’s office refused to comment on the issue.
