Manoj Bajpai, Hrishitaa Bhatt and Vijay Raaz ponder over the unusual subject of their film Jugaad (getting work done through trickery) and its making

Manoj: Come on Hrishitaa tell me what jugaad have you done in your life?

Hrishitaa: Ha ha ha..never felt the need to …I believe in honesty and am quite straightforward! I did not even know the exact meaning of the word when I was offered the film!

Vijay: It means getting some job done in an underhand manner, or by tricking someone.

Hrishitaa: I knew it was a very North Indian word. When the producer, Sanddeep Kapur narrated the script, I realised that it was very apt as the title.

Manoj: So did you say yes immediately?

Hrishitaa: Yes, I agreed to do the film pretty soon. I am quite fascinated by films based on real life happenings and this was based on Sanddeep's life. I was quite intrigued how the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) locked the doors of his advertising agency one fine day and what he went through with in trying to re-establish his agency all over again! I liked the spirit of the protagonist in the film, actually his!

Vijay: I know it has a great message, that is to keep moving on in life despite all odds What about your role Hrishitaa? This is the first time you are playing the role of a wife. Were you at any time opposed to the idea?

Hrishitaa: No! It was a challenge for me to play a part I had never attempted before. But the best part was that I am not your regular sati savitri wife. I am a woman of today, who speaks her mind, wears hip clothes like dresses and jeans and enjoys her space.

Manoj: At the same time you are perfect partner, always by her husband's side in times of distress.

Vijay: the chemistry between both of you was great!

Hrishitaa: I think that's because we are buddies even otherwise. In fact we are called 'gym buddies' to be exact, both of us workout at the same gym!

Manoj: Tell me, did you do any homework for your role?

Hrishitaa: Oh no! There was no homework as such. I have a lot of married cousins and I was aware of their interaction with their husbands. But I believe you worked on your part, heard you observed Sanddeep very closely all the time.

Manoj: hmmmm… Well, as a theatre artiste we are trained to observe people and unconsciously imbibe their mannerisms. Since Jugaad is based on his life I would make a mental note of Sandeep's mannerisms and his gait. But frankly I had visualized the character on my own.

Vijay: I noticed you giving inputs to Sanddeep even otherwise.

Manoj: Yup, Sandeep is a first time producer and having been in the industry for long I wanted to do my bit. Like he had planned this one scene song sequence, which I told them to spread it as a background score for many scenes.

Hrishitaa: But don't forget the prank you played on him! Sending him messages midway of the film that you had decided not to continue with the shooting.

Manoj: Ha ha ha! I like to have some fun on the sets!

Hrishitaa: Vijay, you were such a natural as Manoj's friend who uses a lot of jugaad while trying to help re-establish his agency.

Vijay: I am a very instinctive actor!

Hrishitaa: Both of you worked in theatre and have worked together in Aks …. Must be fun getting together once again. I saw you thumping each other's backs and hugging each other a few minutes ago!

Manoj: (laughing loudly) fooled you…actually that was a scene from the film where we make a headway in our attempt to re-establish my business.

Vijay: One thing I am very happy is that though the film is based on a grim real life story Sanddeep and director Anand Kumar made sure that it is an entertainer with doses of comedy, music, romance.

Hrishitaa: Yup, he has sugar-coated his message beautifully. Hmm what are your expectations from this film?

Vijay: I expect everyone to go into the theatres to watch it!

Manoj: I just give my 100percent, and never harbour any expectations.

Vijay:I am very intrigued to know how you select your films Manoj, you do such few.

Manoj: Actually I am offered only certain roles, and amongst them also I have to shift to see what suits me. The script decides my agreeing to do a film. But I have no complains and am content with what I have. My forthcoming films are Money Hai Toh Honey Hai, Acid Factory and Rajiniti.
