Director Shekhar Kapur is ready to take a plunge into someone else’s creative zone as he takes charge of completing New York, I Love You, a series of short films that was originally the project of filmmaker Anthony Minghella, who passed away last week.

Minghella, who directed Cold Mountain and The English Patient, was a friend of Kapur’s and had wanted the Elizabeth director to carry forward his project when he was not keeping well.

While Kapur wants to recreate Minghella’s vision, he is set to re-cast the characters and has roped in Mira Nair, Brett Ratner (director of Rush Hour series) Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman, among others, for the series. Kapur will start production in the first week of April.
