9X’s new reality show on dancing Yeh Hai Jalwa is banking on celebrity numbers and a unique concept for reality TV success

Reality shows are topping out on the TRP ratings these days as the think tanks at various channels are in a mad dash to out think their competitors. With singing and dance shows popping up on virtually every channel, the viewers can be put off by the hounding presence of reality shows on TV. The recently launched channel 9X has come up with an innovative new show that will have the who’s who of TV dancing the nights away.
The show’s called Yeh Hai Jalwa and it includes some popular faces like Ronit Roy, Rohit Roy, Rakhi Sawant, Prachi Desai, Rosa Catalino, Sharad Malhotra, Varun Badola and others will be participating on the show that will be hosted by the Queens of TV drama, Parvati and the former Tulsi, Sakshi Tanwar and Smriti Irani respectively.
Sakshi who loves dance and music thought that being part of Yeh Hai Jalwa was the perfect opportunity for her to be a part of a dance-based show without actually competing. Highlighting the unique concept of the show she revealed “Through this show common folk are getting a chance to showcase their talent along side their favourite TV stars."
The show’s concept will have 11 TV celebrities mentoring common people from different walks of life as they will all compete for the top prize. The effervescent Rakhi Sawant sees the show as a great opportunity for people to learn the nuances of dancing. “Kids are a part of the show and it will give them a great opportunity to learn about various forms of dance to which they are complete strangers,” said Rakhi. The boisterous diva also explained that Indians and their children were aware only of the ‘Bollywood- ishtyle dancing’. “Shows like Yeh Hai Jalwa help educate young minds with international art forms,” believes Rakhi.

Brothers Ronit and Rohit Roy are geared up to go great guns against each other. Elaborating on their sibling rivalry on the show younger brother Rohit said “Ronit is a technically superior dancer. He is very close to being a trained dancer too. But at the end of the day I am a better actor (Laughs)”. Rohit also mentions that he feels there isn’t much rivalry between him and Ronit, since his elder brother is like his father figure. Ronit on the other hand sees the show as a learning curve. “Being part of Yeh Hai Jalwa will allow me to learn about dance as my fellow teammates do so to. Together we will take our dancing to the next level,” opined the popular TV star.
Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2 winner Prachi Desai believes that her co-contestants will start from where she did in Jhalak.... “It will be interesting to mentor these people as they start from scratch the same way I did. It will be quite an experience because now I will know what my choreographer would have felt like dealing with dance illiterate like me,” spoke Prachi.
Sharad Malhotra, who is also part of the roster of celebrity contestants, emphasizes on the involvement of a celebrity reality show. “Because the aam junta will be directly involved with the show, its connectivity with the viewers will be stronger,” said Sharad.
9X is pulling up its socks to stand out from the crowd and from what Yeh Hai Jalwa’s celebrity contestants have to say, it really looks like a step forward in reality TV. There’s no doubting that executives at the channel will be crossing their fingers and hoping that all the celebrity presence will make their show a grooving success when it airs on March 16.
