In an attempt to lure music lovers of old classics which is fading these days, Keep Alive recently held a four-show programme titled The Fragrance of the ‘Fifties, an ensemble of evergreen musicals like Sham-e-bahar aayi from Shama Parwana and Seene mein sulagate hain arman from Tarana, Dum bhar jo udhar munh phere from Awara, Sham dhale from Albela, Baazi’s Tadbir se bagdi hui, Yeh hawa yeh raat yeh chandni, Main dil hoon ek arman bhara, Tu ganga ki mauj and many such rare gems were sung by the brilliant singers of the troupe. The four-hour show filled the evening with great songs from that era which is a very rare sight today.

Kudos to Manohar Iyer for reviving the old songs through his band of talented musicians and singers. We look forward to more such programmes.
