Harward Music, Rs 99Kailash Kher with Paresh and Naresh (which in effect means Kailasa - The Band) turn film composers with Pranali. The music is meaningful and lyricist Anil Sooraj hua maddham Pandey gets his solo break and does a good job.
The standout track is Sakhiyaan (Mahalakshmi-Richa-Sunidhi-Shreya) in which the first two stand out among singers), as the track is not exactly designed for all singers to etch a distinctive presence. Kailash’s own Sach na batana is well-worded but has an unmistakable aura of vintage Shankar-Jaikishan-Mukesh, while its Udit version strikes a placid mode vis-a-vis the Kailash version. And Madhushree’s solo Bikhar gayi (the Kailash version is okay but sounds odd with the words Main hoon devi!) has a decided Laxmikant-Pyarelal feel.
So with such heavyweight inspirations, the score definitely will have substance. The popular prospects will depend on the film, though. Worth a buy.

Debuts, especially those of star-sons, need strong music. And this is one area where the latest star-son starts with an acute disadvantage. The music is not just mediocre and cacophonous, but especially so. Marhaba (Debojit) by Bappa Lahiri just about strikes a passing chord because of its different feel.
Anand Raaj Anand’s compositions are uniformly disappointing and the lyrics are not even worth a passing mention. From the vocals’ point of view, the singers too sound indifferent.
