With Bhram due for release soon, what are your expectations as composers?
Well, we have done four tracks in the film and we really hope the audience likes them. It’s a very nice film with some exceptional performances from the actors and I hope it does well at the box- office. The songs are doing quite well, especially I’m a Bad Boy.
Has the controversy surrounding the music affected you in any way?
Not really. Controversies come and go and in this case it was a clear case of miscommunication. Pritam has given great music in the past and in this film as well. We are glad to be sharing the same album with him.
How did your music journey begin?
We have done a lot of ad jingles for Pepsi, Dettol, Philips, Hindustan Lever, eBay, Ponds, Sunsilk and Pan Parag. But we got our big break as composers with the hit number Sineni Sineni for the Emraan Hashmi film Jawani Diwani, after that we have never looked back.
When you were doing well with jingles, what made you want to compose for films?
Well we are basically songwriters and musicians. We did ad jingles to fulfill our creative needs but we have always wanted to do films from the beginning
Do you think it is better to work with young, new singers?
It’s not better or worse. It just depends on the requirements of the song, although the new talents do add a bit more freshness. But there are songs that require the experience only a Sonu Niigam or an Udit Narayan can bring in.
Being relatively new, is it easy to find work here? And how do top singers treat you?
Yes because thankfully the film industry now is very open to new ideas and concepts and we are working with very talented people. As for the top singers, they treat us really well and we have had fabulous experiences with singers like Alisha Chinai, Adnan Sami, KK, Kailash Kher and Sunidhi Chauhan who is an absolute rockstar!!
Nowadays most music directors sing.
Yes we too sung the dance number for Jawani Diwani and also Shanana for Bhram, in which we are even acting in the song.
What are the other films that you are working on? And how different will they be?
We are currently busy researching for a film called Stoneman starring Kay Kay Menon and Rukhsaar. It is written and directed by Manish Gupta and is based on serial killers. We are planning on visiting serial killers too for the same at jails!
Now that you are composing for films, do you find time for your rock band, Spirit Of Bhangra?
Well, the rock band was a one-time thing and it was fun while it lasted. But we are definitely coming out with a new Siddhartth-Suhas album soon. Ideas are in the pipeline.
Are you happy with your progress?
Yes very much. By God’s grace and thanks to the industry’s faith in us we are sure we will reach the top very soon! We have worked with the most amazing people so far and we hope to work with more in the coming months.
