Dino Morea, Milind Soman, Sheetal Menon and Simone Singh exchange notes about their characters and shooting for director Pavan Kaul’s romantic thriller, Bhram.

Dino: Sheetal, Bhram was your first film. It may sound clichéd, but how was the experience, since I was your romantic interest and most of your scenes were with me?

Sheetal: One would think that since I am a model, playing one would be easy, but if you ask me it was not. It was a cakewalk only on the first day of the shoot when I had to walk the ramp. But when the heavy dialogues and intense scenes started I found the going quite tough. At the same time it was interesting and challenging to play Antara Tyagi, who is cynical, aloof, fools around with men and is highly opinionated. But I must say you were a most wonderful co-star!

Dino: Thanks! Since she is so unlike you, did you prepare a lot beforehand to get everything right?

Sheetal: I read the story very carefully. Then I had a reading session with Pavan and tried to understand her mannerisms. How about you, Dino? I noticed you were so much at ease playing the suave and carefree businessman Shantinu Ravat?

Dino: Thankfully I did not have to do much homework, as Shantinu was not a complex personality. He just gets disillusioned with life because of what happens between him and the woman he loves, that is you! But what caught my attention when Pavan narrated the script was the powerful screenplay and the unique and mystic love story.

Milind: Yup, that's what attracted me to the film as well! Two brothers, (you and me) and how their lives change when your beau enters our lives.

Simone: The film interested me as I was very keen to do a different kind of thriller after Being Cyrus.

Milind: And playing my wife?

Simone: Oh yes, that also…

Sheetal: I wanted to ask you about your look in the film, Milind, long hair, long beard, it is very unlike the corporate honcho you are playing.

Milind: That was my idea! When Pavan narrated the role of Devendra Ravat a rich, arrogant, self-made banker, I mulled over my character. I thought it would be interesting if he were made to look like the non-conformist that he was. I managed to convince Pavan and he allowed me to work on my looks! I don't know if you realised during the shooting, but I am a lot like Devendra, self-made, arrogant and very confident and sure of myself!

Dino: Yes I agree with you completely! And Sheetal, I thought some of the outfits you wore were absolutely stunning! Pavan told me they were brought in from the US…

Sheetal: Weren't they gorgeous! They were designed by Sanjana Jon and each cost a bomb! Pawan was very particular that I look like a supermodel, and wanted that extra edge. I am dying to see how they look on screen!

Dino: The dresses or yourself?

Sheetal: Mmmmm...well both!

Milind: I was quite floored by Simone's jewellery and clothes too. They were perfect for her character as my wife… I mean a successful businessman's wife! She looked like a powerful social figure whenever she came on the sets.

Simone: Thanks to Neeta Lulla, who designed them. But more than this well-turned out socialite, what I found challenging was her other side, that of a woman disillusioned with a marriage which was emotionally unfulfilling. She appeared so vulnerable when she was alone.

Dino: Yes, most of the characters have different shades, and that is what makes Bhram interesting. Each character is so real. And then Pavan knew what he wanted from each one of us, so no technical research as such was required.

Sheetal: Yeah, the subject of the film was intense and thought-provoking, but we must all thank Dino for creating a very light atmosphere on the sets. He was always so jovial and kept us all smiling with his pranks and jokes.

Milind: The only time I heard him cribbing was when we were shooting at Hotel Horizon at Juhu where the lift was not working! He grumbled to whoever would listen to his woes when we had to trudge fourteen floors up and down!

Dino: Arrey, imagine, even the loo was on the ground floor! I would hardly drink any water so that I did not have to go down to use it! Since the location was Sheetal's (my girlfriend) residence, I had to do the maximum trudging, not you!

Simone: What of shooting the climax in minus temperatures in the Rohtang Pass in Manali? To top it all, it was raining, I was shaking like a leaf.

Dino: I even asked Pavan, why there, and he said the rugged and aesthetic character of the location was perfect for the climax scene in which the mystery of the film unfolds! I guess he was right! I believe the scenes shot there are awesome!
I thought that I would never come out of the place alive! But ask Sheetal, I think more than these locations what made Sheetal more uncomfortable was the kissing scene between her and me.

Sheetal: I think you were as uncomfortable as I was! Actually more than anything else I was concerned that such scenes should be essential and shot aesthetically, which thankfully they were. Our love is shown to be very intense and kissing between two people in love is natural!

Simone: For the sake of our whole team I hope Bhram appeals to the audiences.

Milind: The content is excellent and according to Pavan our performances laudable! But I never have expectations from any film I do!

Dino: But Pavan has great expectations from the film and frankly so do I!
