Music of Jodhaa... doesn’t appeal

Jodhaa Akbar is a film based on history. People thronged to see yet another historical movie on the lines of Mughal-E-Azam. Jodhaa Akbar has all the grandeur, stupendous sets and above all the Dhoom:2 pair. Yet, one feels that there is something missing. Mughal-E-Azam, Anarkali, Taj Mahal were star-studded films and they had great melodious songs - which have drawn repeated audience.

Jodhaa Akbar is okay but its enormous length is a big minus point ; moreover the songs are not melodious and appealing - we simply forget them the moment we come out of the theatre. Jodhaa Akbar cannot have the repeat audience because the average cinegoer cannot identify with the historical characters and may not even know that part of history. But, one has to congratulate the sincerity, commitment and above all guts to make Jodhaa Akbar, a historical film full of grandeur.

Inspired by Mughal-E-Azam, N.T. Rama Rao made Akbar Salim and Anarkali in which, NTR was Akbar, Jamuna was Jodhaa, Balakrishna, NTR’s son was Salim and Deepa was Anarkali. The film had lilting and melodious songs composed by none other than C. Ramchandra and the songs were rendered by Mohd. Rafi and Susheela. Though the film was not a success it was a musical hit and had repeated audience for its melodious music and songs.
