Mr. Bhatti On Chhutti is the story of a middle-aged man, Bhatti (Anupam Kher), who works in a bank. Bhatti has plans that can lead to world peace and he wants to discuss them with the US President George W Bush. Bhatti regularly leaves messages at the White House in the hope of getting through to the President one day.

Bhatti wins a vacation trip without participating in any contest. He takes this strange co-incidence as a mission of sorts and thinks that it is Bush who has sent him these tickets for a secret meeting. But while on vacation, Bhatti lands up in a lot of trouble.

Bhatti’s idol, Amitabh Bachchan, also makes it to the story and he play’s Bhatti’s guiding light in troubled times. As he weaves a way out of several problems Bhatti eventually gets his chance to unveil his plans and save the world.

“The idea for Mr. Bhatti On Chhutti came to me when I noticed Indian tourists struggling on various levels at international locations. That thought translated to a character called Mr. Bhatti who faces a plethora of problems while he is on vacation.

Everything from there on was like you create a character and that character leads you into a story. The story of this film presents a serious global issue, that of world peace. But it does so in an underlying manner and the message is deeply rooted beneath a lot of fun and mayhem.

It can be hard to have a serious message told amidst a lot of comedy but with Mr. Bhatti On Chhutti we have presented that thought through its main protagonist’s inert wishes.

We were lucky to have two great actors in Anupam Kher and Amitabh Bachchan be a part of our film. Though Mr. Bachchan has a special appearance in the film, his presence is felt throughout the film in the form of Bhatti’s constant referral to him as an idol.

There is a huge surprise in the climax of the film, which will make the audience gasp. With Mr. Bhatti On Chutti I want to say that even a comedy can stand up for world peace.”
