Meet The Spartans (English)

Pathetic parody

Creative quotient
Some Americans need to understand that the world will not warm up to sheer trash, even if it’s packaged well. Meet The Spartans continues where its predecessors like Scary Movie and Epic Movie left off. The film is a parody of the hugely-successful CGI movie 300.
But where 300 set the benchmarks for what CGI filmmaking of the future will be, its parody turns out to be a caveman’s attempt at filmmaking. Its jokes, its ridicule and its spoofs are lower than what a toddler’s IQ could appreciate.
Youtube has a plethora of 300 parodies posted online and even the trashiest of them are good enough to oust Meet The Spartans in terms of entertainment value.
The movie is overtly silly, brainless and does nothing worthwhile to raise laughs.

Technical expertise
Meet The Spartans is plain stupid, as if a group of college kids got together one boozing night and came up with the script for this film. Many scenes in the film appear out of place and severely out of context. The Britney Spears’ spoof looks a trillion times better in the trailer than in the film. The reason for that is none of the events that take place before it have any connection to its happening.
It is absurd to watch a collage of scenes that would be mildly amusing as standalone videos, put together as a film.
The only good element in the film is the appearance of the actors playing the Spartans. Most of them have chiselled bodies like the originals in 300. And for those who were not as fit, their six-packs and obliques were painted on.
But just one good element cannot be the redeeming factor of a film that crosses the limits of vulgarity, stupidity and ridicule.

Verdict
This film is worth nothing. No stars, no acclaim. Watching it is a painful experience.
